This was a local car show that was held at the local South 21 Drive-In here in Charlotte. There were about 40 - 50 cars there. Hope you enjoy them.

Thomas Myers suffered this horrific fire at the recent ADRL National Guard Quarter Max Memphis Drags II in the first round of qualifying. Myers believed that the solenoid hung open, causing the fire while he purged the nitrous system. Thomas was able to get out of his Safety-Kleen Corvette without injury. Damage to the car was limited to the carbs and hood scoop, and Thomas was back in action just two weeks later at the ADRL race in Michigan.

This was a local car show in Oakboro NC that takes place the 3rd Friday of each month. There were about 250 cars there. I lost some of the pics when I downloaded them to my computer, and some of them were the best. They close down the center of town, which is only about 6 blocks long, and cars line the sides and fill the parking lots and cruise up and down the street. They also have a burn out contest afterwards to see who can smoke their tires the longest. I thought this would be pretty cool, but it was actually boring. Most of the vehicles were the locals who wanted to show off their farm trucks, etc. Not a good show at all. Makes no sense to burn your tires down to the threads and maybe blow a trans or something else. Anyway, I hope you enjoy what is here.

This was one of our local car shows. It was held this past Friday at the Matthews South 21 Drive-In. The Drive-in was closed for some reason, and the turnout was not that good. I was told that on a typical show when the Drive-In is open, there would be about 110 cars.

I am stripping the underside of the cab floor removing all the rust, dirt and old undercoating. Can't afford to send it out and have it blasted, so I am doing it myself. Lot's of fun.

I am looking for a set of full length hedders for my '55 Chevy truck. If anyone knows of someone who owns a '55 - '57 Chevy truck that is runnig a set of full length hedders, I would appreciate the contact information. I have talked to just about every hedder manufacturer there is and they all tell me the same thing, that I have to run block huggers. Don't like the block huggers.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Check out this web site. It is the Fuel TV from Charlotte. It mostly contains motorcycles, but I thought it was pretty cool being in Charlotte.

Also, if you can get Action 64 TV in the Charlotte area, they are doing a section on Independent Technologies. These are the folks who did the frame work on my '55 Truck.

I am getting ready to install a power steering hose kit on my '55 truck. I would like to know if anyone can tell me if the return hose needs to be longer than the pressure hose.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Friday was a test-n-tune qualifying session. You ran to get an ET category. Once you had your ET, you were assigned a number along with a letter. These were groups A - I with 60 cars in each group. They ran the different groups to see who would make the final 64. This was a first for Pinks to have 64 finalists. Saturday, the eliminations were held and ran down to the 64. Once the 64 were named, they ran all 4 lanes with only one winner per run. Then they had the final 16 that would run all 4 lanes to get the final 4. From there they ran only two lanes to get to number one. The winner took home $10,000.00 cash and an $8,000.00 NAPA tool box full of tools.

This was also a first for Pinks. They have never had a track where they could run 4 cars a one time.

I hope I explained this so everyone understood. History was made here this weekend.

Don't miss the first Pro Tree Racers Association national event of 2009, Friday and Saturday, April 17 – 18! The event will feature index racing and heads-up racing in three classes: Top Street, True Street and Performance Street. Friday will feature a test and tune session from 5 – 9 p.m. and tickets are $10 for spectators. Gates open at 8 a.m. on Saturday and tickets are $15. Qualifying is scheduled for 11 a.m. and eliminations will start at 4 p.m.

Well, we finally got our first auto show here in Charlotte. This was the Food Lion Auto Fair that was at the Lowe's Motor Speedway this past weekend. There must have been more than 3000 cars there. We got there at around 10 am and the temperature was about 50 degrees. We walked around the mile and a half track and never actually made it to the infield to see what was there. We left at about 5 pm and the temperature was 74. Great day for an auto show. Hope you have the time to check this out. Some great looking cars.
