My dad and I have been working on the Thunderbird almost nonstop over the past month....It now has a brand spankin new paint job and all of the old trim has been replaced or revitalized. When I'm done buffing the paint job and getting everything just right I'll post up all of the pics I've taken during the whole process.
Here's a teaser pic that shows the car while the clearcoat was still curing.
One of the first things I had to do when I got this car was change the radiator. The original owner's idea of fixing a leak was to just pour as much Bars Leak in it as possible.. Which didn't help much at all. It took a little bit of work to change the radiator, but in the end Slider's running cooler and leak free. The original radiator was an enclosed system, but the radiator I bought needed a cap, which I actually prefer. After flushing the system a ton of times, I finally managed to clean all the old gunk out. Then an air pocket developed right underneath my thermostat, which I found out is the highest spot on this car for the radiator, so this was a great learning experience for me.
