By BugeyeRX

Finally painted and done, done after 5 years in the making!

Going Green

By BugeyeRX

It's been awhile but all is well. Blew the clutch during a 9K gear change. Cheap Nappa disc could handle the rev. I installed a new competition kit and now it eats more tire than ever but feel nice.

The British are coming!!!!!!!

By BugeyeRX

I had so much fun at the hot rod car show yesterday I decided to try my luck at a British car show to see if the purist would be as accepting. While some folks just lifted a brow, most of the folks loved and respected the conversion to rotary. Some even envied the power! The car showed well and really drew a crowd, I was humbled to say the least. It ran great and I put about 200 miles on it. Check out my album to see some cool picture.

You always remember your first one!

By BugeyeRX

Though the Austin in not 100% complete I took her to a local CT car shows and it went great. Everyone loved the car, There was about 400 car but only one Buzz. Check out the diverse types of cars that came. I had a blast.

All is well

By BugeyeRX

It's been awhile but things are well here, been buzzing around town getting a lot of looks.

I just want to Drive!

By BugeyeRX

WOW what a winter, I did nothing but shovel snow. I had to shovel the roof, yes the roof, three times. I still have a huge berm surounding the house. I did get out to see how the car fared and all looks well with the exception on the collapsed EZ-up. Hope everyone else survived! . Can't wait to just drive.

Header #2

By BugeyeRX

Here the bunch of piece of 1/8 x2" OD header piping and flanges I bought off of E-bay. I melted the 20 gauge piping I original used seems these rotary's run extremely hot. At highway speed it red hot for about the first 18 inches and actually cause the thin gauge metal to melt the first 90* elbow. In all years I've never seen anything like it, good thing I spent all that money on the 2000* heat shield other I would have burnt it to the ground! I'll post a pic of the finished header once it's complete.

S-10 Jump

By BugeyeRX

Here was the 1/2 time show, a bunch of kids jumping there junk on a 20' double jump. This did not help their cars last the night, As a rabbit once told me "tricks are for kids" But it was fun to watch!!!!

2010 Outlaw Race

By BugeyeRX

Well this year I had a sweet 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix to race at the local Outlaw race. I won the full size model class and recieve the best trophy I have gotten in awhile, a big bottle of Grey Goose Vodka. Oh yeah the after party was sweet. I added another video of this dude clearing the double jump in an old S-10 pick-up. It was a kick Azz night!!!!

The leaves are falling and Bugeye is Buzzing

By BugeyeRX

I took the Bugeye out for a ride around the hood to see how the leaves are looking. Shouldn't be long and they will all be on the ground and the Buzz will be tuck away. I like the fall here, but it bring the winters I hate! Enjoy the video.

Buzz Cam first road test!!!!!!

By BugeyeRX

Wholly @#$% does this thing go!!!!!!!!!! I took it on it's first road test. I'm going to be prepping for paint so strap the race cam to the windshield and had at it! I was shaking when it was over, I need some front-end alignment for sure, but what a blast. More to come.

Take-off!!!!!!!!!!!!

By BugeyeRX

Here's a quick video of Buzz's first steps hope you enjoy!!

T-2 Days

By BugeyeRX

Well, after great fan fair the days is finally upon us! On the 7th day of August MM.X I will finally attempt to Drive the Buzz Bomb. After a finally and painful hurdle with the clutch system, (note: When matching a master cylinder to a slave cylinder insure that the bore of the slave cylinder is larger than the bore of the master cylinder) I now have brakes and clutch and it's on like monkey dong! I made a sweet ejection seat for a lawn tractor and some plywood encase my engineering skill were just a figment of my imagination! LOL Wish me luck and if I don't kill myself I'll post a video of my 1st attempt. My goal is to at least move and stop under power.

100* plus but the show must go on!!!!!!!!!

By BugeyeRX

It's over 100* with 100% humidity today in the northeast and the Buzz is looking a little peek-id. But with the summer 1/2 over there's no stopping. Hope everyone is keeping cool, I'll be hitting the beach with the grand-kids this afternoon to cool down if we don't get thunder storms again!

THE END IS NEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By BugeyeRX

I'm over the last major hurdle, all the brake lines are in, master cylinder installed, let the bleeding begin. As you can see on my white board, not much left to do! Seats, fuel cell, horn, speedo, and other miscellaneous stuff. The on the road blog is not far away now!

Muffler Challenges

By BugeyeRX

I'm gonna call this one right now. Jim wins by a country mile!

Front End Conversion Complete!!!!!!!!

By BugeyeRX

I fitted and installed a sway bar and sway linkage and this finishes the front end conversion! Now I just need to plumb the brake lines and install master cylinder and it should be road worthy. Happy Birthday USA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Springs are in, what a pain!

By BugeyeRX

Well I'm almost done with the front end conversion, it was just a bad as I figured, hope I never have to do that again!!! Here's the results.

Boingers

By BugeyeRX

I finally got the new springs and can finish-up the front end conversion. As expected it was a pain in the Ace! Now its down to the short strokes. Brake lines, master cylinders, seats, speedo, fuel cell and I'll be on the road, God Willing!

Stopping the Madness!!!!!!!!

By BugeyeRX

Well I finally had enough money to get a much need disc brake upgrade set up. I need to change out the front A-arms, king-pins, hubs, and added discs, calipers, springs and sway bar to complete the swap over. Here is the start of that effort, I'm figuring a few weeks to do it RIGHT!

Home sweet Home!

By BugeyeRX

I've spent more time in the Buzz hut than it the house these last few weeks. Hopefully I can get this thing done this year! Just need some cash to get it road worth. I'm getting antzy!

Carb tunning

By BugeyeRX

I attempted to tune the carb this weekend, sounds better but still smell rich!

Progress is slow!

By BugeyeRX

Progress is a little slows as I ran low on coin. I have been working on little details while I accumulate some more chaching! I made a one piece exhaust pipe, added some air cleaners, rebuilt started and cleaned up wiring.

What a weekend!

By BugeyeRX

Well, it was a great weekend, The motor started and my on problem turns out to be just the alternator. I'm now even more motivated to get in on the road. I tackle the brakes next! The Buzz in all tucked away and seems pretty happy with it's new found power! Can't wipe the smile off it's face. CAYL, Dave

The Buzz Bomb is Alive!!!!!!!!!!!

By BugeyeRX

Well all it started and it only took 2 tries. On the 1st try I had the fuel pump plumbed backwards so I had bubbles coming out of the gas tanks. I'll post more vids and pics soon as it got late and I'm spent,

Motors Done

By BugeyeRX

Hey all, the motors finally done, just waiting for the drive shaft to be delivered from Overland Drive. Turns out fitting a 1959 and 1987 shaft together is a bigger deal than I thought but it's done and on the way home. God willing next weekend will be a GO for ignition!

The Buzz is back in town!!!

By BugeyeRX

Well, I'm now about 80% complete with the reassembling effort. Looks like Buzz really like his new mods, can't wipe that smile off his face.

Hosed

By BugeyeRX

Started to put in the final pieces to support a first start! The Rad hoses turned out to be a pain, and I have to abandon the nice open face fan and go with a pancake style, not as pretty but it fits way better!

GOOD FRIDAY YEAH!!!!!

By BugeyeRX

A day off with pay, Seventy Degree's, New Radiator, and throttle cable, oh yeah that is a good friday! Hope everyone has the greatest and safest holiday!!!!! I got another rad since the RX-7 rad would not fit. Well this one looks like it's just what the doctor order. We will see what happens when I put on the hood. It's getting close man. Happy Easter.

Give me Fuel, give me fire...........

By BugeyeRX

I had to work Saturday to make up a little of my lost time, but Today I finished the fuel line and install the Dizzy wires. I have air, fuel and spark, now all I have to do is figure out the cooling. Come to find out the Rad I have is to big. I think I need a dragster Rad since they are the smallest I can find that provides enough cooling. My envelope is 16" high by 22" wide!
