About MissusPete’s Garage
About me and my passion for cars
I'm probably an unusual female, as I've always found cars to be interesting and fun to fool with! I enjoyed helping my dad work on the cars as I was growing up, and must've asked a million questions. I made friends with car buffs once I was old enough to have friends with driver's licenses, so that I could hang out and 'talk shop' with those guys (of course, the disadvantage was that I, of course, became 'just one of the guys,' and some of them had a hard time noticing that I was, in fact, female!!!).
As far as my air-cooled VW passion, I've loved Bugs ever since I was around three or four years old, when I saw my first one. It's one of those 'stop-motion' memories, sort of like when Elvis died or something, that is forever engraved in my memory; I remember everything about that day and the Bug, including the now-familiar smell of it! I collected Matchbox and Hot Wheels VWs of all kinds, and learned as much as I could about them. My folks weren't too supportive of this love, due to safety concerns, but when my dad asked what kind of car I wanted for my first car, of COURSE I said, "A BEETLE!!!!!!" So that's what I got! I've had several since then, but life events prevented me from keeping them for one reason or another. Fortunately, I'm now able to settle in with my current Bug, Ingrid, and plan to enjoy her for years to come (good Lord willin'!)! :)
My first car
A '75 Super Beetle with factory A/C and sunroof.
Car I wish I still had
That '75 Super! I had no idea at the time that she was a one-year special edition, and hence very rare and very valuable! :}
My dream car
I'm working on her right now! See Ingrid's pic and information!
