Midnight At The Oasis in Yuma, Arizona, March 2008

By ReachDan

Hey All!

Laura and I just returned from the "Midnight At The Oasis" car show in Yuma, Arizona. What a great car show!

Over 900+ cars spread out over 3 baseball fields on the Ray Kroc Memorial Stadium in Yuma. This facility used to be the Spring Training fields of the San Diego Padres but this weekends it was all cars, concerts and rock 'n roll!

I've posted a new album of photos from the show and maybe you can help me out with identifying some of the cars by name and year in the comments section. I'm a muscle car guy and the roadsters & hot rods sometimes leave me clueless as to the year and model.

I also posted another fun album that is all "Vanity Plates" from the show...check it out! It's lots of fun to see how creative some folks get. I have a plate on my car, 1OWNR66 that causes some folks to pause and think about what it says. And some of 'em need no time to think...they're just obvious.

So check out both albums and leave some comments...I always like to read what you guys have to say...

Thanx for stoppin' in and hope to see you at car event sometime soon!

All the best,
Dan & The Green Machine

Happy New Year from Dan & The Green Machine :)

By ReachDan

Wow! It's hard to believe how fast 2007 blew by...almost like it had a double shot of nitrous!

At 62 years young I keep wonderin' how come the years seem to whiz by so fast...can't explain it but they sure do! There's a lesson here for you young guys 'n gals...don't put off what's important in your life or whatever it is you want to do 'cause time keeps creepin' up on ya whether you're paying attention or not...one day you're rokin' 'n rollin' in your 20's & 30's and the next, well, one of your best friends is throwing a surprise "Over The Hill" b'day party for you 'cause it's your 40th b'day! And from there, time just keeps comin' at ya, only a little faster each year :) Pretty soon you're asking the same question I do...."where'd the time go? ...seems like I was just 20 yesterday!" :)

Now don't get me wrong here...I'm having the time of my life and I'm enjoying every minute of it...it just would have been nice to do some of the things I'm doing now back when I was, say, 30 or maybe even 40...know what I mean?

The good news is that as I begin another new year, 2008 looks to me like it will be even more fun and more exciting than 2007 (or any previous year)...a lot of that fun and excitement comes from the great people I've met since we restored and began cruisin' & showin' the Green Machine. And Motortopia has been a huge part of that fun...you guys 'n gals have been a blast to to get to know on Motortopia and I look forward to getting to know you all better and maybe even meeting some of you at a car event somewhere in 2008! I'm also looking forward to adding more friends and their garages to my friends list in 2008!

So Happy New Year everyone!

I hope you make 2008 your best year ever! And remember the infamous words of Larry The Cable Guy, "Git R Done"

All the best,
Dan & The Green Machine

It's Time To Vote...Motortopia's "In The Wild Photo Contest"

By ReachDan

Hello Everyone from Dan & The Green Machine :)

It's photo contest time on Motortopia! If you haven't been to take a peek at the 145 entrants in the photo contest, let me encourage you to take a few moments and check 'em out...some very cool pics of some very cool cars and the captioning on some is likewise very cool!

I've enjoyed shooting photos of The Green Machine in different settings and posting them here as albums on my Motortopia site...many of you have viewed and commented on them and I want to thank you for all the positive and kind remarks.

We'd love to have the winning photo and Motortopia's 8X10" Plaque with the Green Machine emblazoned on it hanging on my office wall...so give 'em a look and if you decide to cast your vote for Dan & The Green Machine, know that we will be greatly honored that you chose our photo over all the rest!

The photo above is the one I submitted...It doesn't have the captioning here that's on the contest photo so I hope you will go check it out and let me know what you think...

And please feel free to peruse all of our albums and post your comments and ratings...we'd love to hear from you!

All the best,
Dan & The Green Machine

P.S. And thanx Motortopia for a very cool website and a fun contest!

Cover Shot on Motortopia's Oct 4th Community Newsletter...

By ReachDan

Hi All!

I can't tell you what a surprise it was and how cool I felt to see our '66 SS on the cover or front page of the Motortopia Community Newsletter! It was the greatest!

I'm doing some more shoots of our car for the Motortopia "In The Wild Photo Contest" and I hope you guys are too! I already have some very cool (at least I think they are :) panorama shots of our car with the desert cactus in the background and more recently, I shot some on our way to "The Run To The Pines Car Show" up in Pinetop Arizona. They were taken in roadside pullouts along Hwy 77 in the Salt River Canyon of Northern Arizona...sorta like a Mini-Grand Canyon. You can check 'em out on our Motortopia page and if you have any feedback, comments or suggestions, I would really love to hear 'em!

Thanx again to all for the wonderful comments since seeing our car on the newsletter...this really is a great forum with nothing but the best people...but then, they're all car guys & gals so you wouldn't expect anything less, would ya?

Laura and I wish you all the best and we'll see you at a car event somewhere soon!
