Vacation to Darlington Raceway Musium

By TerryO

I was driving around the country in my ole Black 1978 Corvette I restored in my garage and I came across Darlington Raceway Museum. So I stopped in and took a few pictures. I had no idea this was the very first stock car racing museum.

My Museum Visit

By TerryO

On my vacation this year I drove my 78 Corvette to three NASCAR related museums and the National Corvette Museum. This one is the Richard Petty Museum in Randleman NC.

C3 Corvette Trailing arm replacement

By TerryO

Over the past 4 years I replaced almost the entire drive train in my 78 Corvette, Black Beauty. I can now delete that word "almost" from that statement. In my garage I just finished replacing the last two major suspension components, the trailing arms. Here are several pictures of that job.

After a test drive she handles like a completely different car. I love it.

We need to Motortopia something like this. Interstate Car People Getting Together

By TerryO

This is one of many annual car enthusiast get togethers. This one is different in that it is an all Corvette show featuring all Mustang club member judges. It is held in Beaumont, Texas. For me it's an annual over-night road trip to visit some of my car friends from across the West state line. I think it would be really cool to have an open car show featuring members of Motortopia. Maybe several regional get togethers. I know it would be cool if we could pull it off for a good cause. But right now it's just a cool 'idea'
Thanks for having a look.

Re captioned restoration pictures

By TerryO

I originally spent an hour putting captions for all 19 photos but the captions mysteriously disappeared when I uploaded the album early this morning. So this morning I went back and replaced them. I hate it when my pictures have no description. Sorry to have to send you notice again. Thank you for taking time to look, rate and comment.

On my vacation this year I visited the NASCAR Hall of Fame Museum. This is the second album that is on the second floor and is the from what they call the Hall of Honor. The Hall of Honor describes the current five inductees for the year you are visiting. My visit was during the display of the Inaugural induction of the Hall of Fame.

My Freak Accident on 7-3-11.

By TerryO

Hello my friends,
I don't want to be felt sorry for, only want to tell my friends about my bad luck yesterday. I had a freak accident that left my right foot broken in several places. I am so so fortunate that I had my cell phone with me and my best friend Tazz was not out of town. I was out cruising around the country side joy riding in my black 78 Corvette. I was out of any populated area but still within 10 miles from home in the middle of no place. I was winding out second gear and I think I over revved it and car stopped running. So as I coasted to a spot on the side of the road I realized I was going to have to push it buy hand just a little bit. As I hopped out to push my car it was still rolling and my right foot got too close to the rear left tire and it got run over. OUCH :( Man what a stroke of bad luck. I called Tazz and he dropped what he was doing and came and helped me push it to the side then he took me to a nearest hospital then not only did he go back and supervise getting my car towed back home, he even got it placed back in my garage. Now THAT's a real friend. Go visit him when you have spare time. http://www.mo...pia.com//tazz

Thanks again Tazz.

So all in all I broke my motor and I broke my foot all within about 30 seconds.

These are just a few of the many pictures I took while I was there.

2010 Pine Festival Car Show in Oakdale La.

By TerryO

This is a small town in central Louisiana. It is small town USA and the people there were the definition of "Southern Hospitality". Every year they have this festival with a parade and arts and crafts, Christmas carols, horse and buggy rides a barbeque contest and a CAR SHOW. This is something I want to go to every year to be reminded of what a real American community is supposed to be like. Everybody supporting everybody. What I really would like to do is get more cars and trucks and bikes to enter the car show. Thanks for taking a look.

Knights of Sparta Cardi Gras, N.O. La.

By TerryO

Last Saturday in the memory of my late wife I drove to New Orleans in one of the two cars that she inspired me to restore to enter it in a car show to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She passed away in Jan of 2000 from cystic fibrosis. I was not really looking for a 4 hour drive for a 3 hour event but when I saw it was for that organization I gave it no second thoughts. Here are 71 pictures from that show.

2010 Cajun Corvette Club Open Carshow Album 2

By TerryO

I limit my albums to 40 because any more than that in my opinion is asking my friends for too much time in one sitting. So there may be a third album if anyone is interested.

Thank you my Friends for your support.

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

By TerryO

It started March 1775 when Patrick Henry delivered his "give me liberty or give me death" speech. And lasted until November 25, 1783 when the British evacuated New York City.

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and torturedbefore they died.
Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.

So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

Remember: Freedom is Never Free!

I hope you will show your support by sending this to as many people as you can, Please!
It's time we get the word out that patriotism is NOT a sin, and the Fourth of July has more to it than beer, picnics, and baseball games.

This was in Beaumont Tx 6-12-10

Sarting my rebuilt SBC

By TerryO

Although my engine started up on the first try I think I need to fine tune the carburator. She idles smooth but wants to die for a few seconds when I let out the clutch. But man that 283 Thumpr' Cam sounds just the way I'd hoped it would. Have a listen, what'd you think?
