Something a little different.....

By Thugbuster

Hey yall... Some of yall have heard me talk about my youngest son and his lawn mower racing... This all started in 2000 when a group of guys decided to start the AMRA (Alleghany Mower Racing Association) to raise money for the newly constructed fair grounds... Little did they know that a pack of rednecks racing on custom built lawn mowers would turn into a crowd pleasing motor sport that it has become... These guys race in 4 different counties and has raised a ton of money for the fair grounds and volunteer agencies... My son (we call him Snookie) started in the stock class and now races in the 34.5 cubic inch V twin class... He has over 50 trophies and still collecting them... They raced in Wilkesboro N.C. on June 7th and Snookie was battling for 2nd place when he and a fellow racer got together... Now Snookie is a large young man,,, he'll go 6' 1" 260 pounds... He flipped his mower after hitting his buddy in the rear and bounced like a rubber ball... He was't hurt in fact he put it back on its wheels,,, bent his steering wheel out and finished third... I was proud as hell with his showing of determination and grit... I've added a video that my oldest son who films and sells DVD's of each and every race to my Motortopia page... Enjoy and see other videos at his web page

Parts truck found!!!

By Thugbuster

I found a 1970 Chevy CST-10 long bed truck.... The sweet thing about this truck is its all original and was bought new by the seller... (one owner baby) It has all the extras I need... 350 turbo auto trans, 12 bolt pos rear end, power steering and power brakes all factory.... I could not believe how solid this truck is....There was some trim missing on the truck,,, but the owner said she has all of it in the basement... The fenders, cab corners, rocker panels and hood is in great condition... The bed is starting to rust though at the supports, but is in good shape over all... Now the best part,,, I can take it home for less than $500.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!! What a deal.....

Half Ton Of Fun

By Thugbuster

Now that I've got the C-10 running, the body is next. I don't have a lot of $$$ to spend but I'm think I can make a decent looking truck out of it... I've got to do something with the ride height not only for better looks, but to increase the handling... After the test drive with the new motor and without the the bed, I seen that the old C-10 is not real stable at 100+ MPH (GO FIGURE) I want to paint it but I've not decided on a color yet... Thanks for the comments on my trucks...

Tomorrow the 71 shall come alive...

By Thugbuster

We, that would be my Son and I performed the motor swap from my 1968 ton (known though out these parts as the HOT ROD QUAD) and placed it in the 71 short bed... We quit at 9:30 pm and decided to fire it in the morning... She won't be no power house but I'll have a nice little crusier when the body work is done... Pics coming sooooooon!!!!

To much work and not enough play!!!

I'm working on the pictures of my project... I can't seem to get away from the office long enough to get started... It's a 1971 Chevy C-10 short bed minus a motor... My Son is working on his 1972 Monte Carlo project and we are planning to help one another... I've got a 1968 Chevy one ton flat bed that we call the HOT ROD QUAD (duel wheels) that I'm putting out to pasture, so if you need parts to such a beast I'm your man... Later
