Not sure what has happened here but unfortunately it's gone downhill. I don't visit as much because there are no new updates and even the blog posts are done to sell goods. It's kind of sad that such a good forum site has gone downhill.

Motortopia

By Zebra3

Is no one updating the site anymore? Just wondering what was happening.

Happenings

By Zebra3

Well I haven't been updating this site very often lately. That's not to say we haven't been doing car show stuff in the hieght of the season. I do update our facebook page though.

http://www.fa...7515109008929

Check out some of the shows and cruises we have done so far this year. Feel free to "like" our page too. Plus if you ever come to Denver let me know not only from a movie car standpoint but would love to meet fellow motortopians.

By Zebra3

This year now that the Blakely is restored we took some shots for our Christmas cards. It was a nice day and we went to our favorite picture spot to take some two car shots.

New Video

By Zebra3

The Colorado Movie cars were at it again this Thanksgiving weekend. We took our replica's to the Rocky Mtn Rod and Custom Car Show in the Convention Center. Check out the video.

Halloween event album TV and Movie Cars Group

By Zebra3

The Colorado Movie Cars club was out and about again. This time at the Hauntings at the Hangar event at the Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. Kids galore and and a lot of Star Wars too. Movie cars are always popular.

Colorado Movie Cars Video

By Zebra3

We held our second Movie Cars show this Tuesday night in downtown Denver. Great turnout of cars and people. We are really getting this club going. Our next event is a Halloween event at the Air Museum in Denver.

Walk around video

By Zebra3

Finally got around to doing a video of a walk around of the Zebra-3.

We have a Colorado Movie Car show tomorrow night so I'll be taking pics and video there too and posting.

Torino Drive Video

By Zebra3

Finally took a short video of me driving the Torino. Wish the sound was better but what can you do. Next is a walk around video.

Bearcat Picture Day

By Zebra3

We also took the Bearcat out for a little picture day now that all the shiny bits are in place.

Picture Day Album

By Zebra3

A friend of mine wanted to take some pictures of the car for his photo portfolio so I took some too. Hey no one has enough pictures of their car do they? We went to a few locations in the Denver Tech Center with the goal of getting some shots in "Era Appropriate" settings. We found a couple of older buildings but for the most part we ended up choosing some cool places.

Restoration Progress

By Zebra3

Well the Bearcat is coming home finally. New pictures have been posted. The next step is to put all the new shiny bits back on the car. Once that is done in the next few days the car will be back to Brand New. Looks great so far.

7th Annual BPOC show

By Zebra3

We had a pretty successful show this year with 83 cars on the field. Not bad considering there were about 18 other shows in the Denver area on Saturday and it was the first day with sunny weather in about 2 weeks.

If you want to take a peek at some pictures. I posted to the Olds club website. I do the web design for our club. Yup I no longer even have an Olds.

More restoration pictures

By Zebra3

As we slowly but surely get closer to completing the restoration on the Bearcat I have added some new pics to the album. Even a couple of before shots for reference. It's a long process to be sure and there have been delays at the shops that are doing the work but we are closing in I think. Lori is getting excited and I am excited for her too.

New Tires and Wheels

By Zebra3

After looking at refurbishing my wheels the cost was kind of prohibitive so I decided to spend a little more and just get new tires along with new wheels. The cost of the wheels themselves was less than restoring my existing wheels.
So I found some US Mags on ebay and then bought cooper cobra radial ta's. They look pretty sweet if I say so myself.

I downsized my rear tires too and they fit better.

Video

By Zebra3

We participated in the Denver St. Patricks Day parade and I made a quick video of the photo shoot afterward.

Bearcat album

By Zebra3

My wife Lori has been anxiously waiting for her roadster to get done from the shop. Well yesterday we picked it up from one shop and took it to another. All the paint and body work is done and the car is pretty much back together. It's now getting a new interior and top then we can put all the shiny bits back on.

Today's Weather

By Zebra3

Did you see this picture of California. Sad to see this sweet Trans Am totally drowned.

Spark Plug Blow out

By Zebra3

Well as luck would have not only did I have to go the dentist on Monday but on the way home the Torino blew out a spark plug from the cylinder head. I've read about doing this type of repair with an insert but that may not last long, I need to make some calls. But a whole new head will cost over $500 just for the part let alone the labor.
Good times. At least it's getting to be winter anyway and the car would only be driven a few times a week anyhow.
12/02 adding a pic of the car being towed off to the shop

Pontiac is Over

By Zebra3

Well today is Nov 1st and the Pontiac brand is now an orphan. Another sad day.

4 Post Lift

By Zebra3

Just in time for the bad weather. We got our 4 post lift installed in the garage. The new Bearcat is so small my Gran Torino fits under it just fine in our fairly small suburb garage. We now have a 3 car garage. Pic posted.

Friday July 9th

By Zebra3

Don't forget that this Friday is National Collector Car Appreciation day.

The United States Senate passed Senate Resolution 513 (S. Res. 513) at the request of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and the Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) Council designating July 9, 2010 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day.” The resolution was the result of an effort undertaken by ARMO as a means to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.

So if you can remember to take your classic out for the day to a cruise in Friday night or event Just park it out in front of the house all day. Take them for a drive to lunch or dinner. Time to Show them off to the Nation.

Mercury is Over

By Zebra3

Just read the news today that the Mercury Brand is going away. Ford announced that they will no longer make Mercury. They will put the efforts into the Lincoln brand.

Memorial Day car show good and bad.

By Zebra3

Well the Casper car show was pretty nice, I'll post some pics in a while. The other news though is that my tranny overheated as I got towards home. Luckily it's didn't get real bad until, I was pulling up my street (after the 650 mile round trip)'. So yesterday I took it to the shop and lo and behold there is damage so it's getting repaired and may end up with a full rebuild. They are going to cut me a deal since I already spent some nice change with them so that is nice and even nicer I made it all the way home and to the shop. It could have been a lot worse.

Casper WY car show Memorial Day

By Zebra3

Anyone going to the Oil Capital Car Club show in Casper Wy over Memorial Day weekend. It's a great 3 day event. If you are going and happen to be heading up I 25 let me know and we can meet and caravan up. Joe

Saturn

By Zebra3

Well it's pretty much official and that GM is closing down Saturn. The Penske deal is off. So that is pretty sad and another bad call from GM. Clearly they need to shift their mindset. Too bad GM is now behind the world in building a good hybrid or electric car. They had one before in a Saturn by the way and blew it.

Not sure why they opted to close Pontiac - Oldsmobile or Saturn all of which had affordable models. Instead opting to keep Buick and Cadillac and GM. Keep GM as the "truck builder" don't make chevy trucks but focus on cars that are affordable. Move the Pontiac cars and Saturn cars over to Buick or Chevy. That is the ones that make sense and are sellable. No need to make three or four different badges on the same suv.

All in all we are still seeing how poorly GM has made it's decisions over the past years and no able to shift from making gigantic vehicles. Hopefully that will change and I am optimistic about it. We shall see.

New Video

By Zebra3

I posted my first video with slides and music. Some various car shows and stuff from around Denver. Plus my "Cool Ride of the Week" photo is in there too.

Added More Pictures

By Zebra3

I added some more pictures to my car show album, it could be my last show for the year. Some nice rides and even some movie and tv cars.
