- Description: This is my project truck. It started out life as a long step-side bed truck with a 292 6 Banger and a Three on the Tree Manual Tranny with four wheel manual drum brakes and manual steering. I have shortened the frame 18 inches making it into a short bed and originally I had shortened the step side bed but later I found a super solid & straight fleet side bed so I sprayed it to match and installed it. The original engine and trans have been swapped out for a freshly built 327 with big valve high compression double hump heads, a Performer carb. and Performer RPM intake and Hedman Hedders all fired off by a performance tuned HEI distributor all feeding power to a rebuilt Turbo 350 Transmission with a B&M Shift Kit sending power to a Posi differential with 3:08.1 highway gears but I am planning to replace the Turbo 350 with a 700-R4 soon.I lowered the suspension 5 1/2 inches up front using drop spindles & springs and 5 inches out back with drop springs and installed Doetsch Tech shocks all around. I rebuilt the front end with Moog parts and added Cross Drilled & slotted Rotors with braided lines to the front along with a new power booster and Corvette master cylinder. It has also been upgraded to a early '70's Chevy Truck power steering box. Inside I have added a set of 2004 Silverado Bucket Seat and Center Console, Carpet and a Pioneer/Kicker Sound System with hand made by me fiberglass kick panel speaker pods and a pair of
Pioneer 10 inch subs reside where the gas tank used to sit. I installed a Blazer steel gas tank under the bed along with a Cool Cap fuel filler in the bed floor. I plan to do a full frame off restoration meets low rider as soon as my budget allows. It will eventually be tore down to the bare frame and built back up with new and restored parts and will have a porterbuilt front cross member with a power rack a pinion steering box and full custom built air suspension notched to lay the rockers on the ground. I also hope to eventually install a GM Performance Ram-Jet 502 and a Gear Vendors Over Drive. Only time will tell if the last part ever happens but hey you gotta dream big! - By: MEANlowGREEN
