Sorry I forgot about your question.

The two tone paint (black top and mirrors) was Chevy way of pointing out the V8's over the V6 models. The only way to get away from the two color set up was to get a black Camaro (SS or Z2 or any color V6. Now somewhere along the line someone in Chevy forgot about this and chenged everything. I think it was in 99 or 00 when they started making both V8's and V6 models with two tone and full body point. I've seen SS's with both set ups and like the two tone paint better myself.
