winter 2

By bigkat

well, it turns out that my problem wasn't the voltage regulator. it was the starter solenoid. i picked it up from autozone tonight and will install it tomorrow. then i'll clean it up and garage it until the spring.

i installed a 1000watt sony explode amp that i got off of ebay today. hooked it all up and cranked it up, sounds good. now i have to hook my 150watt MTX amp to my 2- 6x9 kickers and figure out where to mount them.

got a new hooker header exhaust over the weekend. went to install it and realised i was a little over my head as far as not having all the right tools. so now she is in the garage with no cat, mufflers, or tail pipes. monday i am taking it to a shop to have the system installed or i will send my system back and have the shop give me custom pipes with my brother in laws flowmasters that he doesnt want.

i finally finished the four week project to drop the trans. and replace the flexplate. biiigggggg pain in the ass. dropping the trans was easy. taking all the lines and electronics off was easy as was taking off the drive shaft. the bitch of it all was taking off the old flexplate. the three bolts that attach the flexplate to the torque converter came out nicely. as did all but one of the six that held the flexplate to the back of the engine. thats where the trouble was. i found out that the center of the flexplate had fractured away from the rest of it. so the problem was obvious. i got down to the last bolt and the little bastard rounded off on me. so after two weekends of using bolt out kits, hammer & chissel, dremel grinder, regular and needle nose vise grip pliers i finally got it out. then the instalation was a breeze, no problems at all. except the top coolant line was a liitle bit of an **** to put back but it went. drove it all day saturday after the fix was finished. even got the $25 seatbelt violation to prove it. i'll puy up an album of pictures from the project as soon as i can.

i gotta problem with rough idle. the car wants to shiver while at idle and sputter a bit while cruisin' around the 55-60 range. i replaced the fuel filter, plugs, wires, air filter. my guess now is the fuel pump. when i get the time and or the motivation i will get one on it. till then i will just deal with the aggrivation.

i keep the beast pretty tuned up as much as possible. as i get more money and time to play with 'er i'll figure out all of her kinks. like where all of the vaccum lines are supposed to be and what peices i am actually missing. oil changes every 3,000 and air filters every 6 is about all that i can do for her right now. *paying for college puts a nuse around the wallet*
