About

I got this bike on 6/22/2010 for a whole lot less than it's worth. It already ran pretty good, but needed a little work here and there. It's not extremely powerful (61hp), but it's plenty fast enough for my first sport bike. I've done a little work on it here and there, fixing and improving everything I can find the time and money for. It's a really fun bike to ride.

- I had to park the bike in 2011 when it developed a problem with pushing oil out through the air filter after just a few rides. It still ran perfectly, just pushed oil out of the air box after heating up. It sat for that whole season until the summer of 2012 when I got it back out and the problem was gone. I'm guessing it was a plugged oil passage in the engine. Maybe it dried up after sitting for a year and pushed out when I started the bike up again. I ran it several miles good and hot and the problem was gone, but since I had already made up my mind to restore it I started the project anyway.

- As of March, 2013, the bike was about 90% taken apart (aside from the unopened engine) and ready for resto. However, I came across a steal-of-a-deal on another XJ that got me back on the road immediately. I ended up selling this one to a young guy who wanted a project to build with his dad.
