About

We restored nthis car from 1989 to 1992 With help from Mr Holman and the Ford Archives division in Dearborn. Craig Donohue also helped with some research. The car has a lightweight frame with all the Holman Moody bits like exhaust thru rails, big spindles etc. The car was bought into Australia by Jimmy Broadley from Diablo Motors. He purchased from a guy called Don Smith at Champion Speed Shop in USA. He also bought in a 2 door hardtop with some glass panels. Our car is unusual because it has a VIN tag with the lightweight code but is also an early car. there is H/M Xp welded on the firewall/floor tunnel and the dash insert goes all the way across with out any clock or radio delete panel.Holman recognised some parts from photos but a lot of their early records were lost so the numbers don't mean much.
In a letter to me Greg Donahue stated that he believed the car was originally built for road/ track racing in Europe but we don't know if it ever left the USA before coming to Australia.
Car is also rare because it has complete fibreglass doors and all the windows work. The first 20 only had fibre glass doors and then Ford stopped production because of safety. There is also a disclaimer tag in the glovebox. We debuted the car at Bathurst 1994 and it ran 4th Outright and clocked 278kph.
