I took a day off of creating Mary's Rose Cottage to go with Jerry Jr. for his Elks installation. It was a wonderful evening. I just took a couple photos as the ceremony its self is not open to photos or the public. We had a great dinner and a very pleasant evening.

Yes, it seems like time flies when you are having fun. Today marks Mary's and My anniversary. About 45 years ago we were married. God I cannot finds the words to explain how much I love this girl. Every day I spend with her just seems to be perfect.

A while back I ordered Mary a brass plaque (Holts Rose Cottage) for the house and it arrived today. I attached it to the garage wall and it looks very cool (Mary is happy with it so I'm thrilled with it) and adds something to the house.

Managed to get quite a bit more done on the back yard Saturday. Taking today (Sunday) off. Kind of tired. Oh, I will throw in a couple of photos of hot air baloons that almost landed in the yard. Kind of exciting. They came down to take a look and almost hit the tree tops (one did scrape the trees).

Cj and I have really been busy working on the back yard. It is not complete but coming along nicely. We have installed all the curbing (with the help of the curbing guys), installed most of the Rose Bushes (trying for Mary's Rose Cottage look), and installed over 1,000 sq feet of sod lawn. Not done by any means but really looking nice.

We are getting ready to relandscape the rear yard and we got many of the plants in today. The roses are very pretty and I think we have about 60 #1 rose bushes. The curbing guy comes tomorrow and the sod should be here later in the week (if I have planned this right) it will be here on wednesday when the curbing has sat up. Grandson CJ has really been helping me with this project. He is really buff and makes short work of digging up trees, and old hedges etc. Mary and I are so lucky to have our grand children. Oh, Mary has named the house "Rose Cottage" so I guess she wants lots of roses.

We went to the Beach Boys concert last night. What a great time. Mary and I went with our son Jerry Jr. his wife Anita and we had a wonderful time. The concert was held at the Antelope Valley fair grounds. The guys still put on one fantastic show. Our seats were right up front (several rows back so we could see) where all the action was. The Beach Boys performed all their great songs and the concert lasted for about four hours.

I managed to get the flag and a couple of banners up. We have more decorations but they are not unpacked yet.

I guess the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

Sad and happy day. My name sake Grandson Jerry III left for the Navy today. It scares me but of course I support him and his decision 100%. He will be into computer programming and may gravitate toward nuclear fission (he would like to be a nuclear physicist) dam I can hardly spell that.

I installed a new fountain that Mary wanted in the front yard this morning. I buried the electrical and I have a remote control to turn the fountain off and on with. I will add six photos at the bottom of this post of the fountain area before and after.

I have been painting the house and adding a porch railing. Lots of work but I have the front completed now. The back and sides are mostly stucco so they will not be but a few days work.

I included four or five photos of Jerry Jr.s new Mustang. It is awesome!

We went to the show at the Antelope Valley Fair Grounds today. It was a very interesting show and I got a couple photos of me with Erin Moran (happy days fame) what a pleasant young lady. I really liked her.

It was time to get a new computer so I called HP and ordered this:6GB DDR2-800 MHz dual channelSDRAM, 640 GB 7200 rpm SATA 3GB hard drive, 15in one memory card reader, and lots of other items. HP built the computer on June 3 and we got it on June 6th so not bad at all. It cost us $733.00 and change (free shipping)

Yesterday (May 26,09) I purchased an enclosed landscaping trailer from the City of Lancaster Ca. I want to use it for hauling plants, sod, trees, sand, rock, cement, etc while we are working on our new home. We have trucks but I do not want to haul things in them so this is the only solution I could come up with.

There are three photos of the trailer. It needs paint etc but it will do the job.

We have been so busy with our home, and yard that we have not had much time with our cars.

Our latest project was some landscape curbing. We had about 200' of curbing installed and it really helped define the flower beds and keep the rock out of the grass. Mary has the roses coming back and the lawn is looking ok, but not as good as it should.

I included about eight photos of the project.

Hi

We had to postpone the rest of the move to get the new roof on our new home. It took a week to line it up and the roofer had to remove the old wood shake and install the new roofing so that took about a week (will be finished today).

We have one more trip to be moved completely. We are going this coming week and I have rented a 17' U Haul which will finish the move finally. The car hauler is meeting us in Nevada and hauling three cars for us.

I hope to be back to my daily visits to Motortopia and all my friends here within a week. I do want to get back to the Mystery Car etc.

Hello

We are still moving! We hired a moving van and movers but they could not get everything on one truck like they thought. They did move lots of stuff. We then got a 26' U haul truck and filled it to the brim. Mary and I drove it to Calif. and we are mostly moved now. I have one more load (I think a 17' U Haul will do the job) and three more cars to have hauled to Calif. Things have taken longer because in between trips we have had to have tree guys for a week to cut down three dead trees that were pretty big and they also hauled away three big trailers of plant matter. We also had a plumber for a week and he put in a new heating unit down stairs, a new hot water heater, all new supply lines to everything in the house (the stainless braided type and new washers in everything) he was a good worker but it took three days. We are now wainting for the roofers to put on a new room and then we can get our last load from Vegas and we will be moved.

We have been packing for a long time now and we are still packing. Even David (goldylocks) stopped by for an hour with an offer to help. Considering he lives a thousand or so miles away that was pretty nice. Our son and grandson came to help yesterday and so did Scott (Glock166) on here.

Our computer will be down for a week or so while we get moved and the high speed internet gets hooked up at our new home. Mary and I are truly tired and this move took a little more then we counted on. I will try to log on with my laptop when I can.

I have been watching Ebay for one of these changers close to my home as it is heavy and shipping would be a killer. This one came up and Jerry Jr. picked it up for me as it was only blocks from his work. Mary and I picked it up from Jerry Jr's home over the weekend and I really like it.

We were attacked by a Pit bull dog on Wed. while we were walking our dogs peewee and Shorty. It was touch and go for a couple of minutes. The Pit came at us and was trying to get to our dogs and then another bigger dog came from behind me (it turned out the second dog was not as aggressive as the pit) so I had to turn my gaze away and toward the Bull dog. I managed to keep him at bay with my walking cane (I took an ax handle this morning) and his owner (who owned both dogs) finally got the pit away and then the owner held the second dog down while we went down the street. We both have mace, I have a pocket 32 if things get really bad but this was a bad owner not a bad dog. Anyway it scared Mary and I both and we were pretty shook up to be honest. If I every see the dogs loose again I will call the police (they do not mess around with that type thing here) and have something done about it.

Nothing but good news the last couple days. Christi was moved out of the ICU yesterday, she is better, or has shown improvement in just about every way possible. There is a chance she might get to come home today! She will need some rehab and be using a wheel chair and a walker for a while but that she can over come that with time and work. Her vision is very poor just now but we hope that will improve also.

Very busy day as my niece Michele is graduating with her Masters today also. Not sure how I will work out all the logistics but I will get it taken care of.

There are no words that can truly express how grateful we are for all the well wishes from our friends here at Motortopia. I just thank all of you so much!

Christi is still in the ICU of the hospital but doing better in a few areas. She has had a couple of small set backs but overall there has been improvement.

As it looks right now Christi will need quite a bit of rehabilitation, and it will take some time and work but Christi has a family that loves her and I will be there to drive her or provide whatever a big brother can provide as needed. Not an easy road ahead of her but she will get there.

As some of you know my sister Christi had a bad heart attack and then a stroke on Monday. She is still in the ICU but doing better. Hopefully she will be able to sit up today and I will be able to tell more. She has had a couple of procedures and responded well to them. I cannot get in to see her until 11:am.
