Haha! after long nights of much bloodletting and cursing, the cuda is ready to roll again. discovered the front oil seal was ripped and leakin everywhere. so out the radiator and other parts came. again. replaced the oil seal in the timing cover and checked the timing while i was in there. come to find out the timing was half a tooth retarded. fixed that. that may be why the car wasnt 60'ing like it should.. we shall see.

fixed those problems and the valve cover started pissing oil. ****. so that was fixed. did get a free red top battery out of it tho.

played with the ladder bars and moved them up one hole. maybe thatll help the 60' time too. also went with an older gold claw carb, bout 975ish cfm. set the timing at 34* total, all in about 2500 rpm.

so, all things said, there should be SOME improvement. hopefully. more to come....

About Wed night...

Well, it was partly a success. No major problems, found an oil leak that needs to be fixed. The car preformed well, soft on the launch, best 60ft was 1.53. No improvement yet. I need to get a hold on the suspension. Tune the ladder bars and get the car to leave harder.

Going to pull the plugs over the weekend and read them. See if theres any detonation, rich/lean condition. Maybe throw in some more timing. Go up to 40*. Maybe add some rpm to the shift point. Shifts at 6500. Maybe step up to 7000.

One thing at a time. First is to stop the oil leak, change the fuel regulator and the plugs. Best run of the night was a 7.27 @ 94.81mph. If i can shave the 60' time, the car will drastically improve. I'm aiming for 1.40's. All in due time!

Wed night

Going to get some more seat time Wed night at Sunshine Speedway. I'd only made 5 or 6 passes before I decided to pull the motor down so im still kinda "green" in this car. Real excited to be able to drive it again.

Set the timing at 36* total for a base point. With the Indy heads and the more efficient combustion chamber it may like less timing. We will find out. Also may like more carb. Have an 850 Proform on it as of right now. Have a 975 Gold Claw RS if it wants it.

I'm hoping to just make some shake down runs Wed night and figure the car out again. Maybe see if I can improve the 60' times. One thing at a time....
