I Sure Miss This Car!

It was totalled out in March of 1989 when I was looking for my girlfriend when she was out running around on me. I still blame her for losing my Chevelle. If it weren't for her running around, I would never have been out that late to get hit by the drunk driver! I can't believe it's been 24 years!

If I still had my Chevelle

If I still had my Chevelle, I know it would be FANTASTIC by now! I had so many plans for this car on top of what I had already done to it. I had the interior from a '77 Buick Century Custom. Red velour bucket seats, like new carpet, good head liner, cosole with shifter and everything else to replace the interior. Black and red were always my favorite colors and would've gone good together in this car! The engine was strong and the trans was right-on! It handled like it was on rails and took off like a fighter jet! The body was good and would've been kept imaculate! This car was my baby, and my pride and joy. I would like to find another like it, but not really looking. It was a plain-jane Malibu Classic. No power brakes, no power windows or locks. No A/C. It was all business and all FUN! There wasn't anything extra, but nothing wasted! I still look at the pictures and can't believe I used to actually own this car! But I built this car with my own two hands! I knew every nut and bolt in it! I knew what every little sound was it made and what they meant! It was a good traveling car and wasn't affraid to go fast doing it. I miss how stable it was in all weather conditions and road conditions. Yeah, my Trans Am is/was a good road car, but it wasn't much for a traveling car with it's tiny trunk. I learned so much about working on cars by working on my Chevelle.

I miss my Chevelle!!!

Reality has set in. This car was taken from me for a reason. If I still had this car, I would've finished my Nova a long time ago. I would not have built my Monzas. I probably would not have bought my S-10s. Without those vehicles, I don't think I would've been lead to get my Trans Am. My automotive life definitely would be different. It's a different timeline that I guess never hit me until I really thought about it. I would've only had my Chevelle and Nova. Not a bad thing. I would've missed out on all my Monzas. Maybe it would've been a collection of '73-'77 Chevelles instead! I did have a chance to buy a '73 from a friend back in '88. I did buy another '74 from a different friend in '92. I didn't do much with that one, could've but didn't. I've seen several good ones for sale but never really checked them out. I've also seen a few '73 LeMans for sale too. My '73 was taken from me by my own stupidity. Maybe I could've had a fleet of Chevelles and LeMans instead of the Monzas and S-10s. Who knows? I guess I'll just have to live with the memories and not have any regrets!
