I went over to a local friends house to use a full lift and do an over haul: Pacesetter longtubes, ORY, motor mounts, NGK wires, msd plugs, and an optima red top. Also deleted all EGR and AIR. Well, 12 hours later all the old parts were out and the new installed. Everything runs fine, and loud. Checkout my videos for the new look and sound.

My Berger panel came in, and the gloss black paint on it was in better condition than I expected. A little polish, buff, wax and it was as good as new. I think it flows the pewter/black theme better into the back of the car.

Next up was the SLP lid. I found a brand of spray paint that was remarkably close to the pewter body color. I lightly sanded down the SLP lid with 100 grit then followed up with 1000 grit. I put about 5 light coats of spray paint, then lightly sanded the surface with scotch brite. Then the clear coats went on. I finally finished the lid with black vinyl stripes and logos. I think it makes the engine bay stand out from your average LS1.

Upgraded the stock suspension with tubular lower control arms from UMI. Also took out the factory rubber transmission mount and replaced it with a polyurethane mount. Both installs were easier than anything I've done in the past to the suspension, taking only about an hour total. The control arms seem to help on launch. The tranny mount noticeably stiffened up the drivetrain, but does contribute to some interior noise.

Borlamouth: Swapping a Borla XR-1 round muffler for the SLP resonator in the loudmouth cat back exhaust (Loudmouth + Borla = Borlamouth).

It may sound like an easy swap since the inlet/outlet of the borla should slip fit the 3.0" loudmouth pipes. However, this was not the case and I now know why few people run this setup and those that do usually have the whole sytem welded up at a shop.

Anyway, I finally got the XR-1 muffler bolted in using 3.0" diameter band clamps and some weather proofing to seal the slightly different size between the inlet/outlets and the loudmouth piping.

Definitely worth the trouble! I love the sound. Quiets down the setup at idle, but also gets very loud with more throttle. It gives a deeper tone, and there is much less drone and rasp compared to the SLP bullet I. Sounds less like a truck and more like a muscle car. I will have a sound clip up soon.

Finally got my vinyl plotter working again and made a custom 3rd brake light with the chevy bowtie. I think it stands out much better than the LS1 or Z28 logos everyone else uses.

Did the FRA mod today...It was 68 degrees in NJ...January? Used a dremel with a pipe cutting wheel for cutting the air box base and aluminum snips for cutting the air baffle that covers the radiator. Checkout the attached album for before and after pics. I noticed that the engine bay does sound louder at high rpms.

Anyone else notice that the stock MAF unit for the LS2 is identical to SLPs 85mm MAF. The stock delphi units cost about 1/3 the price too.
