Mystery Car of the Day (Nov 25, 2009)

By JerryandMary

Can you find the year, make, model, and owner? Quote from the owner "My Grandmother (NANA) bought this car new in 1979 right before she retired. I have always done the maintenance and repairs for over the years, it has needed a lot of things just minor repairs. She wanted to get a car with the V8 engine because she thought the V6 was to just a little to whimpy for daily driving. The only things she did was have the landau top put on at the dealership where the car was purchased. I was 14 when she bought the car. In March of 2009 she turned 94 and decided to stop renewing her license, so about two weeks ago she gave me the car, she called it my inheritence! I take it..."

Good luck,
Jerry

Mustang or Camaro??? The race is on!

By GoldyLocks

Since 1985 Mustang has been the undisputed muscle car sales leader...edging out number two Camaro each year. Until Now. Maybe.

For five months running now, the new Camaro has outsold the Mustang and is closing in the year-long sales winner.

So, you tell us. Leave your comment here why this is happening for the first time in over twenty years.

Cool Ride of the Week (Nov 19th, 2009)

By JerryandMary

This week we only had to look at a little over 50 garages to find ten from which to choose the "Cool Ride of the Week" from. Both Monte_Momma and her 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo (Alizé) seemed to stick out (although all ten were great rides). Monte_Momma has a very cool garage that can be seen here: http://www.mo...v/4924/i/aliz

Congratulations Monte_Momma on having your 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo (Alizé) chosen as the "Cool Ride of the Week" for Nov 19th, 2009).

Take care,
Jerry

Mystery Car of the Day (Nov 18th, 2009)

By JerryandMary

Can you find the year, make, model, and owner? Quote from the owner "My car was once used to drag race in and around the Neepawa, Manitoba, Canada area. I bought it in 1998 without a transmission, interior and motor out of the Autotrader Magazine. The car became a lengthly and expensive three year project of many trials and tribulations.

Originally I bought a rebuilt 396 (375 hp) engine which developed cam shaft issues three years after the car was completed. After carefully researching whether to rebuild or buy new, I decided to purchase a GM Crate Motor."

Good luck,
Jerry

Lunokhod - It sorta looks like what it sounds like.

By GoldyLocks

When you look up at the moon tonight - (ya, we know, Motortopians are the type who stare at the moon each night and receipt muscle-car poetry) you can think about how the first lunar vehicle started roaming around on the moon way back on November 17, 1970.

The mission was the Luna 17 and it was a mission of the Soviet Union. Sure, the USA first set foot on the big piece of cheese in the sky, but the Soviets were the first to cruise around with their own RC-controlled vehicle.

Top speed was about one football field an hour. But the battery lasted five times longer than expected.

And, comment on this post if you can think how many they had in the pit crew when this thing was roaming about the moon.
