Dying Teen Gets Last Wish Granted by Fiero Enthusiasts

This is what it is all about. Tyler Shipman is your typical car-crazy teenager. He discovered the Pontiac Fiero and fell in love. He bought one for $150 and slowly started restoring it. He posed with it in his senior picture. Then a few weeks later, he was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

After chemo and radiation therapy failed, Tyler decided to return home to enjoy his remaining days instead of dying in the hospital. He wanted to work on his Fiero, but a lack of strength and time made that impossible.

That's when he posted on the Fiero.com forum for help. Forum member Andrew Weigel read his story, and jumped into action. He assembled a team of Fiero.com members and got $4,000 worth of parts to help restore the car. A few weeks later, the team came from all over the country to Minnesota. Working twenty-four hours straight, they restored Tyler's Fiero, and the icing on the cake was that Tyler was able to work up the strength to drive the car himself.

You owe it to yourself to watch this video. It reminds us that it isn't about the cars, it is about the people. Car enthusiasts are the greatest group of people in the world.

Just a warning: make sure you have a tissue nearby.

My hats off to you all and the courage and strength of Tyler and love for the Automobile,Specifically the love of the Fiero!

That story just warms my heart and breaks it at the same time.

Stories like this revitalize my hopes of good folks still in the World. What a great group of people and new friends!

This is the greatest thing I have heard to happen to a young kid for a long time. It's good to see there are still some good people out there in this world

Although sad, it is heartwarming to see that there are still people out there that will put aside their own lifes to help someone else. Kind of restores your faith in mankind.

Good Golly...I don't have words, my oldest son is 19, this really hit close to home...I was basically a tear streaming mess watching that video, and I felt so heart broken for his folks...just knowing the clock is running. I too like Bugeye, pray for this young man and his parents and siblings...and all of those wonderful people who came to help.
Cheers to you all!

Man I'm touched beyond words, good people are out there they are just sitting behind the ground noise created by the nay sayers and haters. God bless this child and god bless all the good people who got it DONE. You should be proud of yourselves, I know I'm proud of ya all. Thanks Dave.
