1963 Chevrolet Chevy 11 Two door post (In the Red)

Trophies: 7 Give a trophy Last updated Nov 14, 2010

Photo of a 1963 Chevrolet Chevy 11 Two door post (In the Red)

About

I picked this car up in Smithers B.C. in October 1992. My first car was a 1963 Chevy 11 four door so going through a second childhood I had to buy it. I paid $1,700.00 for it, probably too much when I found many problems with it. It came with front and back seats with no other interior at all. The body had been done but not to perfection and was painted brown on the hood grey stripes over the roof then black from there back. Not my favorite choice of colors either. The engine was only running on five cylinders as there was a hole in the top of one of the pistons. I trailered it back to Prince George where it sat idle until 2003.
When my wife and I moved to Kamloops in 2003, we decided we had better do something with it or get rid of it. We started working on it in 2004 and it was ready for the road in 2006. It was stripped down to nothing then rebuilt from the ground up. The engine, differential and transmission were rebuilt, all new front end parts, brakes, springs, shocks, glass installed. The end results were great and we have been enjoying since. We built it to drive so we do just that, we drive it to every show we go to throughout B.C. and Alberta. We are contemplating a drive across Canada.
The car was built in Canada November 1963, it is actually registered as a 1964 but it came with all the 1963 trim so to avoid minor arguments as to what year it when we show it, we call it a 1963 and everyone’s happy.

Specs

Two door post. 230 ci straight six, unfortunately not a numbers matching engine. Three speed standard on the column.

Factory Options

No frills with this car, no power steering, power brakes or air conditioning, just open vents and wind the windows down.
