2nd Annual Chili Cook-off, Car Show and Gospel Sing

My neighbor, Jeremy, coordinated this 2nd Annual Chili Cook-off and Gospel Sing by adding the car show this year and I was quite surprised to see so many cars. For a small town of Richlands, NC there were several hundred people showed up for all the events. My hat is off to Jeremy.

I entered my '90 Vette, knowing I wasn't going to win with a daily driver, but it was interesting. I met several new people and enjoyed talking with all of them. Whether we drive this car or that truck we still have a comraderie and that's our interest in our hobby. To some it is more infectious than for others, but the interest is great.

On other news, my girlfriend and I became members of Twin Rivers Corvette Club in New Bern NC last fall and that is one thing that we've been involved in a good bit or as much as we can. We went on the December Mike Casey Toy Run for Marine children. Believe it or not, some of these young Marines don't have a lot of money for Christmas and they need help. Mike has passed on in 2007 and his wife still organizes this endeavor.

Libby and I also went to see the TransSiberian Orchestra with our new Corvette friends in December. The club also sponsored six WWII veterans on the Honor Flight back in the early fall. This is a great club to be involved with. They also give money to food banks, help students with tuitions with our Spring Display/Car show each year. This year is in mid April. Now as of yesterday Libby and I went for a test hop in a 2003 50th Anniversary Edition Corvette convertible. I have asked for the numbers on a purchase. It was on sale for $21.5K. Folks, that's a steal I believe. It has 82K miles and runs excellent. I have pictures in another album. It is also posted on this blog post.

Hope you all are doing well and stay well this year.

This is a really good car. What are the car parts installed on this one. I want to drive this on the road.
