another virus thru this site

I was in this site Saturday and got another message of a potential virus trying to infiltrate my computer. Webroot blocked it and swept. Today when I turned computer on, more virus and another sweep. Now I can't get up my Mozilla Firefox alternate site that I've been using since IE gets hit more and Word won't come up either. So back on the phone with Dell and I'm staying out of Motortopia for a while. Bye to all my friends, I'm not shutting the site down, but I won't be posting or commenting for a while. And I'm letting Motortopia know too.

- It sounds like another rogue ad slipped into one of the ad networks we use for remnant ads. As of now, we have shut down all ads except for Google and the ads we have directly sold, and won't be returning them until the ad network responsible has been tracked down.
In the meantime, here is some good practices for all Windows users to follow:
1. NEVER click on a popup ad. Motortopia does NOT sell or allow pop-up ads on our site, so if you ever see one here it is a ROGUE ad
2. Make sure you use a browser with a good pop-up blocker like Firefox, Chrome or Safari.

- Just a thought but why not get McAfee, Norton or one of the other programs that really work against viruses?

- Thanks for the warning... Maybe that's where our problems have been coming from. We had something attack our machine so badly that Internet Explorer was wiped for all intents and purposes. Thankfully, Mozilla Firefox is roughly 1000% better than IE! We haven't had many problems with it, and it's completely free - Just try getting anything out of Microsoft for free...

- I will take a peek now & then to see what is going on and maybe make a comment here & then, but I'll be laying very low with this site for a while, since this is the second attack that came thru here. The one in Nov was a real mess, took Dell hours to fix.
