I love the fun of the challenges on Motortopia.

I really think it is only fair that you own the car that you want to challenge, not a relative's, friend's or "No longer owned", and the picture showing the car is the same shape as the car shown, not a picture from 10 years ago and in process of rebuilding.

I own all the cars I show and they are in the exact shape as shown.

Thank you.

The way I see it:

1) Propose challenges only with cars you curerently own... but if you want to challenge one that another member used to own, that is different. The important thing is that the CHALLENGER owns the car.

2) Challenge cars that are comparable in some way. With my Corvair, I challenge older cars, Pony Cars (the Corvair inspired the first Mustang, according to Lee Iacocca, the Mustang's father), performance cars (since my 'Vair has been modified to well beyond where it was when it left the factory), and Sport Compacts. My Cobalt SS goes primarily against other Chevy SS models, Pony Cars, and Sport Compacts. At the same time, I try to make it a point to accept just about any challenge that comes my way, if I think I have a fighting chance of winning. Again, I consider that to be different. I'll keep to my standards, but won't try to impose them on others. I just want to keep it real from my end. If somebody wants to challenge either of my cars with a rusty old pickup, they do it at their own peril.

3) If you want to enter a challenge with a model or a toy, challenge another model or toy! A couple of friends of mine did just that with about a dozen NASCAR diecasts a few months ago, and it was fun watching how that all played out. However, I will never be able to bring myself to vote for a store-bought diecast model over a real car!

Some of the challenges I've seen are downright ludicrous. I'm not naming names, and I consider some of the people in those challenges to be good friends, but I find it hard to vote in a challenge with two completely mis-matched vehicles.

What does it really matter if you own the car or not? The challenges here are a joke! When people start voting on what you show and not who they know then and only then will the challenges be any fun.

Happy Cruzing..

Right on the money! I only have my Chevelle on here right now and WYSIWYG, rebuilding it, but again keeping it real is paramount!

Right there w/ you on that too - honesty is not always verified on here - so have 'fun' here, but enjoy what you got going on in your part of the world. The real thing is what's important! Thanks for your opinion, I'm sure many agree.

I agree - that's why I am challenge the cars that I currently own.

I tried the challenge thing because I was asked by another Camaro owner and then my e-mail was crammed full of challenges by trophy whores who have 5 or 6 cars that were not even in the same class as mine. My car is what it is, not a classic or a muscle car. BTW, I wasn't losing to other Camaros. wink image But as many people do on here, I removed my car from the challenges and don't see any reason to reinstate that function.
