Crate engine with some torque in my Chevelle!

Ok so after i plopped the GM Crate engine in my Chevelle (because the engine i have just cammed and painted up was acting up) i had the same problems with the new engine, figured it was maybe a grounding issue, vacuum leak, or maybe time. After much tinkering i gave up and i decided to take it to a shop. Turns out it was all the above. But was told the carb that came on the Crate engine needed rebuild ( i got the crate 350 out of a farm truck) but atleast it ran decent once it was out of idling range. Since i had my mom ride with me to pick it up i had her follow me home in my Mustang. But since i never fixed my Gas Gauge i ran out half way home, luckily i usually keep 5 gallons of gas in the trunk just in case some runs out (me or some one on the side of the road) So i put some gas in her and fired it up and revved the it up so the pump could push the gas through. Then i put it in drive and decided to see if i could get a bark out of the engine with my big tires on. Boy did it ever! It planted real hard and then broke loose round about the same time it blew out the passenger air shock, but i gave it hell to see how far she'd lay rubber. After about 60 feet or so she grab and tore out of there like a scaulled dog. I let off a bit and then really smashed the gas and it bit real hard again , so i let off and did it again, bit down hard again but this time i felt like an earthquake was going on. knowing that this couldn't be be good i tried to limp her home, all the while my car is shuttering and shaking violently. I made it on to dirt and was half way up a hill when heard a loud bang and then it free revved like i was in park. I looked up in my rearview mirror and saw my driveshaft rolling down the hill... So i let it coast backwards to my poor driveshaft and used it as a wheel chock. Once my Mom caught up, we went to my house and got Kayleigh's Truck and pulled it home. After dropping the drive shaft to my first Chevelle i learned that not all 70 Chevelles use the same drive shaft. So i looked around a bit more and found that my 68 Chevelle had the same Drive shaft. So after running to town and buying a ujoint, i got the "pleasure" of driving 45 year old u joints out with a baby sledge hammer, a breaker bar's handle and using a John henry sized sledge hammer as my anvil and a cut off wheel, i bolted it on and was back on the road! only took like 6 hours of crawling around in the mud, swinging a hammer and throwing sparks with my cut off to get it all done... LOL
