Help me out.

By Ford_focus_2001

Filed under: 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier (The car)

Alright here's the problem, My mother's poor Cavalier used to have a random misfire and we changes the Coil-packs, Sparkplugs, wires and head gasket (Another problem, engine overheated due to blown head gasket) The car was fine for about 2 weeks but now the car SHAKES like crazy when you apply the brakes a little hard, now when I say shakes mean Like HELL. It also stalls. My oppinion is that the Torque Converter is causing the engine to try to advance the car and causes the engine to slow down and either shake like crazy or stall out. Could I be right? or is there a simpler solution? Help me out here guys. Thanks in advance. A video might be posted to give you an idea.

Just a guess, I am no expert on this subject, but sounds like the torque converter lock-up solenoid is not working right and releasing the converter when you come to a stop. I had that problem with the same symptom on a Dodge Caravan we used to own. Anyway, that is my 2 cents. You might be able to see this malfunction on a good scan tool that shows transmission operation. Good Luck.
