Ten years ago I just finished my Trans Am and was getting ready for our annual Father's Day car show week-end. It used to be called "Cruise Night". It started Saturday night with downtown Findlay being closed off the traffic and only cars in the show could cruise. They would park all along Main Street for everyone to look at. They had a live band playing on a stage in front of the courthouse. It was officially done at midnight, but a lot of the cars would hang out much later. Sunday was the big show at the fairgrounds. That was the real show to the week-end. Main Street was packed the night before, but the fairgrounds was really loaded on Sunday! 2005 was the last downtown "Cruise Night". After that they changed everything. No official cruise in downtown, so it was open traffic. The Sunday show was held on the campus of Owens Community College. There was still a lot of cars that showed up, but not like in past years. 2002 was the last one I was in. There was over 500 cars in the Sunday show. My Trans Am was awarded a "Top Ten"! I didn't think I was going to get anything, but I did! I made the "Top Forty" with my "Cameo" S-10 in 1996. In 1998 I was awarded a "Top Twenty" with my "Thunder-sTruck" S-10. I didn't have my Trans Am done yet in 2000. I had just started on it and also had my son racing go-kart that year. When I "broke it out" in 2002, people were shocked that I didn't have another S-10. I was finally in a car. A car that I built as a driver, you know, a "20/20" car. Twenty miles per hour/ twenty feet away looks good. I didn't think it was going to get anything. I was surprised with the "Top Ten". 2003 they had it only at the fairgrounds on the mid-way. It rained really hard that day, so not many cars showed up. 2004, that was the year I was going through my divorce. 2005 I still wasn't right. 2006 is when my engine gave up on me. I finally got working on replacing the bad Olds motor with a good Pontiac motor this past winter. I never thought making a Pontiac all Pontiac was going to be so much work or so difficult. I believe I'm going to have it finished soon, then I can shift over to freshening up the body and re-doing the interior. We'll see !

Excited and happy for you after all your work and time in it to finally hear it start up. First time, I had to check out the window to see if it was thundering out or if it was the car. Then I HAD to come check it out!

Things are getting closer to being done on it! I'm going to try to get it fired up this week-end.

I'm sure you know all too well, that when working on older vehicles, it isn't uncommon for things to become much more of a project, than you originally bargained for.
