I got this truck to replace a Ranger that disappointed me. This S-10 ended up disappointing me to a certain point. I didn't mind that it needed some work when I got it, but when I was getting ready to move up here to Minnesota, the transmission just gave up on me. I had to drag it up here. After I got it here and got started at my job, we started to rebuild the transmission. But that's when the transmission went out in our van. We ended up using the kit in that. So that means the truck has sat there, not running for about 3 years. I've been working on everything else just to keep things running. I haven't even got to work on my Trans Am or Nova. So that's where these questions are coming from; should I get another kit for this transmission, tear into the failed rebuild for the van and take the good parts that were broken or worn out in the S-10 trans, get a used trans like I ended up doing for the van, or just say to heck with it and just V-8 the darn thing like I did my '87? Thing is I don't have the time or money to do anything with this truck. I don't really want to start on another hot rod project until I get one finished I've already started (Nova 24 years ago, Trans Am 4 years ago). Yes I miss driving this truck, but I also miss driving my T/A and I haven't driven the Nova since my friend still owned it, 25 years ago! If I don't do anything with it soon, I'll drag it home and park it behind the garage like I did the Buick when the brake line blew out and didn't feel like working on that. You know, I may have just come up with my own answer!
I've been thinking about this one, and your responses have lead me to come up with an answer; I'm just going to let it sit behind the shop until spring (or the boss tells me it has to go) and then I'll see where I'm at with my Trans Am and Nova. Maybe then I'll be more interested in this project.
