Starting another project

I know this is going to be done in stages. First stage is the steering that's falling apart, then the brakes. Next step will be new front tires, these are real "skinners". After I get a new battery and start driving it again, I'll be able to diagnose the noise in the driveline. Not sure if it's the transfer case or the rear-end. It's fine going forward, but sometimes it acts like it jumps out of gear and make a grinding noise. Not like anything I ever heard from an automatic transmission. If I had my choice on which one is failing, I'd choose transfer case. The easiest for me to change and also probably the cheapest and best available at the salvage yards. After it makes it through the winter, I'll start on the bodywork. Paint's peeling off the passenger door around the top of the window frame. There's small dings and scratches all over and rusted areas. The typical spots, cab sections and tailgate mainly. I'll pull the flares off and see what's hiding under there. If next summer is nice to me (financially) maybe I'll do an "extreme make-over". I've been checking out other trucks, both locally and online. I won't make it undrivable, but I'd make it cooler for sure! I'll include some pictures I found.

Looks like you could catch some air off that ridge in the pic. But then you would likely have suspension work to do too.

The blue one in the included album is almost like ours only with bigger tires. Beat up and workin' hard!

It would be pretty cool if it looks like the picture you put on this blog. But sometimes trucks look cool beat up because it shows they work hard.
