Trivia Question of the Day (July 31st, 2008)

By JerryandMary

American Graffiti (1973)

Most people remember the film as the one with early acting appearances for unknown but up-and-coming actors, such as Richard Dreyfuss, Cindy Williams, Ron Howard (best known as child actor Opie on TV's The Andy Griffith Show, and currently a film director), Harrison Ford, Paul Le Mat, Candy Clark, Charles Martin Smith, Mackenzie Phillips, Kathleen Quinlan, Suzanne Somers, Debralee Scott, Joe Spano, and Bo Hopkins.

Curt is tantalized as he looks over at an adjacent car, it is driven by a gorgeous blond who softly mouths the words "I love you" to him. The blond is Suzanne Somers and the rest is history. Can you name the make, model, year, and color of the car she was driving?

Good Luck,
Jerry

I just ran a search on the car... You're right, it's a '56. Smaller front bumper, porthole hardtop (used in both '56 and '57), "Continental kit", fender vents, no tail fins, every styling cue is there.

I humbly stand corrected.

Hi Jim
I agree it is a tuff call. Depending on what site you look at the year changes from 55,56, and 57. Any of the years would be fine. I have to go with the party that owns the car today though.

Hmmm... I'll have to take your word for the year, Jerry. I seem to recall the heavier looking '57 front bumper and the lack of the '56 Continental spare tire. You've got the facts in front of you, so I bow to you on this one. I think it's time for me to travel back to the summer of '62...

Thanks to everyone that took part. The car was a white, 1956, Ford Thunderbird. Not as attractive as the driver, but a very nice ride.
