truckers strike

By scc24540

as im sittin here watching the fox news channel i see all these truckers in london parked in the road blocking traffic on strike because diesel there is 9 YES NINE EIGHT PLUS 1 9 DOLLARS A GALLON!!!!! holy crap thats just flat out ridiculous. you figure these trucks have at least a 300 gallon capacity so thats a 2700 dollar fill up for these guys. makes me really wonder if msn news's prediction of 10 dollar a gallon gas here in america by 2010 is realistic where as before i thought it was bull. man us as a country needs to come together and come together now before we are the ones having to pay 9 dollars a gallon for any sort of fuel espically the least refined that there is.

Our government needs to tell the epa where they can stick their environmental views and just tell em point blank we're digging our own oil because the hard working tax paying citizens who vote us into office shouldn't have to be making sacrifices like this.

What about the 18 Billion Dollar profit the oil company made last year. That is when I say it is BULL S**T. How about the guy that retired and received his own jet plane, mansion, millions of dollars etc... Obviousely they have us all bent over the barrel so to speak !!! If they are making that kind of profit they are obviousely raping us all !!!

WOW! I support our government, I believe that fundementally it is on the right track, but... I was always under the impression that it was supposed to be by the people for the people, these politicians with all of their accumilated wealth are not about to change things, big oil, big tobacco and wealthy upstarts are their main contributors. It is the same story on a different day, they have theirs period. It is the many serving the few, there is NO way the US Gov is going to regulate these oil companies or OPEC in any way that might jepordize THEIR personal gain.

This is terrible. I'm glad I don't have to drive much, because I only get 10 mpg and have to use premium. I can take bus to work, so only need Babe for running errands etc, close to home. This is just ridiculous and no one in the government seems to know why or even really care.

I think because now investments have jumped in and are buying barrels of oil the goverment needs to cap fuel. This would force these investments to be sold before losses, it is not the oil companys now. The oil company's are selling all they have just getting less barrels to refine. There profits are thru the roof and still a shortage due the world market. Cap fuel prices before all trucking stops in the USA, this is a rice mans game to drain every last inch from the working class. The only way to counter it is a labor stoppage, but it must be world wide. The world econimy still depends on labor to produce, most of the rich would not pick up a rag to check thier own oil. Trucking parking their rig's woul be a good start follwed by all auto industry mechanics and supply labor. The lose of taxes is the only way the goverment jumps, now the goverment wants to raise the fuel tax to get thier share of profits bleeding us even further. John

After OPEC shut off the crude in 1973, we should have found a way to insulate this country from such vulnerability, but we didn't. We've never been able to handle a crisis proactively (before it happens), only reactively (after it happens)- look at the war in Iraq: a proactive attack on Saddam which went every way wrong. We're facing who-knows-how-much per gallon, it's at $4 and rising, and NOW finally we decide to try alternate fuels, hybrid technology, public transport and conservation. Thanks to some of the rest of the world coming on line as oil consumers (China and India for 2) we've got competition for crude and so the price goes up of course. At least there's pressure now to do what we should have years ago- find alternate sources for motor fuel.
