Filed under: 1971 Chevrolet Nova (Dream Car)

I went to the garage and did a "rub" on the cowl tag to get the information so I could trace down what I could about what the Nova is supposed to be equipped with. I guess when I had it checked when I worked at the Chevy dealer after I bought the Nova and started working on it (tearing it apart) I had them run the cowl tag and the V.I.N. number. That's when I found out it was 2 cars grafted together. The information didn't jive with what was in the car but there were hints to what was in one of the 2 cars that made this one complete. The numbers I traced down yesterday told me the year, month and week the car was assembled and where. It told me the color (which I already knew) but the interior didn't line up with the information the Chevy dealer gave me or what the car had. It told me it's supposed to be a light sandalwood interior with standard The Chevy dealer came back with black bucket seats (which the car has). The cowl tag says it's a Nova V-8 2 door, V.I.N. says it's a Nova 6 cylinder 2 door. Cowl tag has some other numbers that I wasn't able to find info on so I'm guessing it's more about the V-8 Nova part of the car that the V.I.N. tag doesn't tell. The car had black door panels, seats, dash, head-liner, package tray and carpet. It had a floor console (without gauges) no A/C. Neither tag gave info as to what engine specifically it came with or transmission and rear end combination. The instrument cluster was standard issue without gauges or tach and there was the "P R N D L2 L1" so I know that is for the automatic trans but there was a clutch pedal assembly factory installed. What came from which car? All I know is that it's not stolen and the title is clear. It 's not a Yenko and it probably isn't anything special or collectible besides being a '71 Nova.
