Teacher On Administrative Leave For Taking Students To Hooters
Submitted by C. S. Magor on Sunday, 20 December 2009No Comment | ShareThis.
An Arizona teacher was placed on administrative leave after school authorities learned that she had taken 40 students to eat at a Hooters restaurant in downtown Phoenix.
AZ Central reportsd that Mary Segall, the choir director for Paradise Valley High School accompanied her students to a performance at Arizona Center last week. For lunch, they dined at Hooters. The Paradise Valley High School choir is notable for another reason, the performed at the inauguration of President Obama.
In her defense, Segall told the school principal that the Hooters restaurant was “the only place that could accommodate a group of that size.”
District spokeswoman Judi Willis commented:
We believe that there are many venues for lunch for a large group of people in the downtown Phoenix area. There could have been a choice that might have been more appropriate, given that it was a school-day event with a school employee in charge.
The teacher of 23 years was planning to retire at the end of January, however, Willis said that she was not sure if she would be allowed to return before that point.
This author does not see what the big deal is, although skimpily attired, the staff at Hooters are all fully clothed. If eateries were rated with the same logic as movies, Hooters would be a PG-13.

- Yeah, I agree. It is a lot of BS put forth by phony people. Hooters is just a place to eat that is noted for hiring attractive young ladies. Destroying a long career is of no importance to these sickos.
