About “MYRIDE”
It was decided on my 40th Birthday that a project was needed to stave-off middle age. The decision was made as long as it was a coupe, with running boards and bucket headlights the rest didn’t much matter. What we did find was a (soon to be realized) rare 1938 DB coupe. The rarity comes into play as we began sourcing out parts that were missing or too far gone to save.
She came to us pretty much a “basket case”. The body was
aprox. 80 percent complete with some un-useable parts attached (38 Plymouth front fender, Plymouth passenger door).
A good portion of the stainless and all the badging had to be found. With a bare but remarkably good condition original frame along with boxes of bolts, bits and pieces we filled our unheated garage.
So it began, with my 10 year old (at the time) KJ egging us on
we carted it all home and began a very enlightening and in retrospect the most rewarding portion of the project…..”the build”. I had never taken on such a complete build, the extent of my experience came from hot rodding our cars as teenagers. This build consisted of a huge learning curve, and a pile of parts that “might have worked”…oh well, live and learn.
