I purchased this car for my wife in 2002 from a neighbor because she had always wanted a convertible, but we just couldn't find the right classic Mustang convertible. He had recently bought it but didn't want to fool with the repairs. Some previous owner had attempted to install a thumper stereo system and Lord knows what else, but had only succeeded in butchering the electrical system and hardly any of the electrical systems in the car worked, including the stereo. I removed all of the non-factory stuff and got everything working again. The rest of the interior and the body are in very good condition.
I was always a fan of the old muscle cars and never held much regard for these "newer" cars. After all, how could a car like this even claim to be descended from something like my '69 Mach 1? But after driving this car, boy did I have an attitude adjustment! This car will scream, handles like it is on rails, and is a blast to drive. Now my wife has to fight me for the keys when we go out for a drive!
I plan to keep improving the car and it will probably become a semi-show/semi-pleasure car. These Fox body Mustangs are starting to become collectible now and I look for the value of GTs, Cobras, SVOs, etc. to really jump in the next 5-10 years. If you have a nice original one, keep it in good shape. Also, nice original parts will become valuable as the cars increase in value.
About “The Fox Rod”
I bought this car in October of 04', one owner and bone stock right down the the exhaust and air silencer. I drove it as is untill it was involved in an accident in which the at fault driver had no insurance. I debated rebuilding the car and I am glad I did because although not pecfect Its been one of my most favorite Mustangs.
