About “Smokey”
This is my '87 Diplomat Pennsylvania State Police cruiser. The car is completely authentic to the mid '80s cruisers that the State Police used to patrol the highways and rural areas of Pennsylvania.
The car is an AHB police package Dodge. Since virtually all, with only less than a handful of exceptions, of the original cars bought by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania have long gone to copcar heaven, this car originally served in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina on their local police department. It spent virtually all of it's life in service there either on the police department or in another governmental department. It was finally bought for resale by a gentleman from Warren, Ohio whom I purchased it from for restoration.
I received significant help from the State Police on it's authentic restoration and the car is regsitered there in Harrisburg.
My cruiser has been permanently dedicated to the memory of PSP Trooper Corporal Joseph Pokorny, Pittsburgh Barrack, who was killed in the line of duty on December 12, 2005. The completed car itself was unveiled to the public at the yearly Police Week memorial activities in Washington, D.C. in May, 2006.
