The club was founded in 1970 and to date has 40 members and covers a geographical area of Eastern Massachusetts and South Eastern New Hampshire. MSRA became a NSRA Charter Member club in 1970.
Our newsletter is in its 40th year of publication and has a circulation of over 100 copies mailed out each month to club members, Advertisers, Car Clubs, and Subscription Rodders (individuals who do not belong to the club but receive a newsletter).
The main theme of our club is to have fun. The club is involved in two major rod related activities each year. The first event is our Annual Canobie Lake Fun Run (now in its 33st consecutive year) held at the Canobie Lake Park in Salem, New Hampshire. Approximately 135 rods and custom cars are admitted free and are on display in a grassy area adjacent to the lake. Complementary all day admission passes are given to each occupant in the vehicle upon arrival, which allows access to all rides and activities for the day.
The second event is the MSRA Drag~N~in the 50’s Nostalgia drags (now in its 23rd consecutive year) held in conjunction with the New England Dragway in Epping, NH. For an admission fee spectators, rods, customs, or whatever you bring as long as it is 1972 or older and does not have a permanent race number gathers to drag race, show and shine, swap and sell, or just bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day. Last year 500 vehicles participated this event.
The remainder of the summer activities is devoted to cruising to local, regional and national rod runs, as well as a Fall Foliage tour and Annual Yuletide BBQ party held each summer.
Membership Requirements: MEMBERSHIP IS RESTRICTED TO THE LOCAL GEOGRAPHICAL AREA. All applications must be sponsored by a regular member. The applicant must submit an application to the Membership Committee at a regularly scheduled association meeting. Initiation fee must accompany the application along with tow photographs of their registered car. An applicant who is unable to attend meetings may have his sponsor present his application as described above, and the sponsor must explain why applicant is unable to attend meetings. All prospective members must attend a minimum of four entire club meetings (start to finish) and two other club sponsored function from the time his application and fee are submitted before the committee votes on the application. The committee may table any action for up to ten meetings attended by the applicant. Once the committee makes a decision, it is final and the applicant will be told no later than the following meeting.
