Hi, I'm just trying to get some input of whether or not a movie due to be released in the summer 0f 08 will become a hit or a flop. It is a film that flashes back to the 80s for all the revelry of a summer weekend of teen cruising in America's heartland. Very American Graffiti-ish, but with a lot of 60s, 70s muscle cars, even some early 80s souped-up ones too and strong plot of teens coming of age in that era. WHO WOULD SPEND THE $$ TO SEE IT.... WHO WOULD NOT???

what made american graffiti so great was all the new stars that were introduced such as harrison ford susan sommers richard dryfus and ron howards first teen role and many more
if this movie can intoduce as many really good unknowns as american grafitti then i say its gona be a block buster
im ready for a ag style movie with all the music and cars
but i wont throw my money away on a cheap name user pice of junk or trash with a lot of cussin and nudity

    I'd probably go see it.
60's 70's and 80's cars were very cool and as long as the studio doesn't destroy some good looking wheels as they always seem to do.
Music of the Period and not this tasteless Rap Crap where the F' word is mentioned after every other word because of there low IQ.
As said would also depend on the Actor Actresses in it too and not all this mush and sex all the time to sell a movie, If they leave out the most known Bimbo's like Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan,Paris Hilton & the other air headed Simpson sisters and I am sure there are others .It might be cool and be interesting. Bring in some new faces.
The Dukes of Hazzard movie blew chunks. And did Burt Renolds as Boss Hogg and Jessica Simpson as a Blond Daisey just not fit there roles at all? eeww I don't think so!!
Danny DeVito would have worked better as Boss Hogg and a Real Southern girl with a set of Knockers would have worked out better!

Now if they don't follow other's mistakes like that It might make it a hit!
The cast has to be right or it just won't work.
Most movies they re-make of an older one never seem to be popular with movie goers and are simply not as good as the original. Cause most people want to see actors who resembled the originals and not just because someone is popular at that time.

    On another note
A movie they should make involving Modern cars and just some awesome street racing would be something modeled after EA's Need For Speed games!
Not really the Fast and the Furious style though.
Hell why not,There going to be making a Speed Racer film! biggrin image

The Generation Xers might have a hard time relating to that era but I know I would love it! I'm one of the few people that really liked Dazed and Confused just because of the cars and the overall feel of the movie. It brought back a lot of memories.
Now days movies are loaded with unbelieveable CG stunts and they try to wow the audience with tricks and special effects with little to no story line.
If someone did it right with good actors or at least a good story and not a cheap knock off of another movie it could great.
