My first car I built was a 1970 plymouth dusteran orginal plum crazy purple with black interior.I swapped the 6 out and put in a 340, built to the max, while I was going to school to be an engine builder.
I had it all built and all body work done, damn it was sweet (and fast) but had to sell it to pay for my education. The jerk who bought it took it out 3 weeks later after he got his license back, wrapped it around a tree. GGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR trued to buy engine back, but the impact broke the transmission flanges off of block.
All that I build for the fun now I keep for the boys of mine.

I had a similar experience - I had a 72 GTO, orange with 400 4 bbl, posi rear end very fast. Sold the car to go to college. The kid I sold the car to drove it into a house trailer. Ah well, now have a replacement in a 72 Lemans with the same body style - better color. And I have my kids to help build it!

We don't look the same anymore so why do our cars have to be perfect?

smile image My first car was a 62 Mercury Comet, it had a 6 cyl. in it when I bought it, burned oil big time, I didn't care, it was my 1st car, I put chrome wheels on it and redid the interior, then when my brother parked his Mercury Meteior, cause it was rusting apart, I took his 289 Cobra engine out and put it in my Comet, man did that car come alive, only problem, it kept breaking leaf springs right and left, I could not afford traction bars, so when I would race someone, we would do a 10 mph kickdown, then it would be strong enough to hold, man I beat 302 Boss Mustangs, Z28s and about everything else that would want to race, well good things have to come to an end, one time we were racing, going about 80 or so, when a German Shepard dog ran out in front of me and of course I served to miss him and wrecked and totaled the car. I was beat up pretty bad and remember laying on the side of the road, when that damm dog came to me and started licking my face, I could not believe it, then he ran off into the woods. I never got a picture of that car, back then you didn't take many pictures like we do today. But I sure miss it. Rick.

My first car was a '57 Chevy BelAir 2-door Hardtop. Got it when I was 14 years old. Couldn't even drive it home. My dad did.

I still own this same car today. biggrin image

Here's a link to a Cardomain site I made a couple years ago for my '57s.

My first car is my GTO. Can't wait to start with the round of mods I've got planned for later this year. Keep an eye out I'll be posting plenty of pictures.

Well.. mine was an '85 Camaro... not quite my dream car.. thouht I found it in an auto trader.. 1982 Black and Gold Trans Am, 305, auto... 32k miles. They were asking $1500. I called and called.. left message after message.. nothing.. finally the day before I got my license.. I saw the Camaro at the side of the road.. took it for a test drive.. it was "close".. but it was a v-6.. blue.. 62k... but for $4,000.. frown image Well.. got tmy license the next day... ran over and bought the car. Was pretty happy about it.. until the folowing day... looked at the next auto trader.. and the number on that T/A had 2 of the digits transposed now.. cry image And ofcourse I didn't have another $1,500 to get it... Oh well. Still have the Camaro 10 year later... but sadly its up for sale... have too many cars.. and need to get down to my 2 Trans Ams now.... so the Formula and Camaro need to go.. soon.
