Topic: rice burner???
#21 Aug 14, 2008 at 11:15 pmThe definitions are all correct as stated. "Rice Burner" started out referring to Japanese bikes, evolved into the first tuned imports and is now deragatory for any kind of car that is "blinged" out. As far as being a "ricer", that is just someone who is way too cocky and usually has an all show and no go vehicle. There is nothing wrong with a show car and nothing wrong with a sleeper; just don't try to bring a "show" car around a bunch of gear heads. Most of us who actually modify our cars for performance (real performance, not getting "50 hp from my APC muffler because the tip is 5") don't really care about how big your wing is or the fact that you bought one of everything from the fake chrome isle in Pep Boys. We care about dyno numbers and track times. The "super duper ultimate Ninja Scroll inspired body kit" giving you "mad downforce, yo!" on the rear end of your front wheel drive doesn't impress us. However, if you pack a turboed B series V Tech in say a late 80's to early 90's CRX, you've got our attention. It isn't so much the car, but the approach taken for the mods and attitude of the owner.
