   I need to put a new convertible top on my mustang gt. I want to do it my self but I'm not sure what all i'll need to do it with and if I'll need to get a friend to help me. Ido know I need the top & window but I've seen some adds say you need some tack strips on the older models but mine is a 1997. I could really use all the advise you can give me. Thanks alot.

   Well I'm kind of in the same spot as you... I wanted to do it myself... I'm sure it wouldnt be too hard... I've looked at it a bunch and from what I can tell you would need the top and window like you said, in addition to the tension cables, headliner if your not re-using the old one, and a friend to help pull and stretch the top into the right spot would not hurt either.. I would reccomend taking it to get it done thought to insure proper installation. Either way I wish you luck!!!
