I have access to a kit that turns the 305 into a 335 stroker motor that is reasonably priced. It can make @ 400 hp with a hydraulic cam. Just an idea.

The kit for the motor with a new crank, pistons, rods, etc... is @ $700. The machine shop bill would be @ $380. Hopefully a little less. Then the cam and other things on the heads and intake would be a little more depending on your preferences. Otherwise a stock rebuild would be pretty cheap. The 335 stroker is a 305 with a 400 SB Chevy crank and flat top pistons with reconditioned rods and ARP rod bolts. I believe it comes with all the bearings and rings too. Total for the parts and machine work depending on a few factors should be in the $1500 to $1800 range. That is for a complete long block. To get that kind of HP these days usually is in the $3500 + range.
