Motortopia should start a Magazine that features the cars from the site and the members that own them. Maybe even have a T.V. show. a Motortopia magazine would be a great way to get the cars built by the average joes seen by the public. it would be a welcome site from the ordinary magazine which just shows those museum quality cars owned by the rich.

I couldn't agree more. Yeah, it's really nice to see the glitz and glamour cars, but the littile guys constantly get shoved aside as not being 'good enough.' We're the backbone of the hobby, and I think Rangerxlt has a great idea, whose time has long since come.

I think we should do a Route 66 cruise and see if we could get Jay Leno to be part of it and maybe even televise some of it for a show of some sort. Also it would allow Motortopians to meet and hang together for the length of the cruise. That in itself would be worth the shot!
What do you guy's and girls think?

Lots of great ideas, but perhaps expensive and time-consuming.
Don't get me wrong, I would support both a magazine and T.V. show.
And I think that the comments here will start them THINKING scratchchin image
But how do we convince Motortopia to actually DO IT!! hyper image

There has actually been some internal talk about better ways to tell stories. The magazine idea was brought up, but alas other opportunities have presented themselves. Maybe this is a good time to talk about it then, eh? smile image

I like this idea of highlighting members and their cars. Not everyone has an immaculately kept show car, but we've all put the same blood, sweat and swears into them. (Not tears. From my experience it's DEFINITELY swears biggrin image ) To be honest, us Motortopia developers are code geeks and wrench turners, not writers. Would anyone here be interested in writing for Motortopia? Again, this is just purely prospective at this point. Just putting out some feelers.

I could see us having an online magazine, but a printed one might not be up our alley. I sense that we're missing a story-telling element to the site that goes beyond a mere blog or photo album. It seems like we would need a combination of photos, story text, and maybe even video? What does everyone think? It'd be for all of you. What would you want?

That sounds like a great thing...I was thinking an online mag of some sorts. I would think though about incorporating into a monthly news letter.

As for writers, one or two just won't cut it. You should look at having the country broken down into regions with 5 voluteer writers or so from each. Not all submitted articles should be published at once though. You should save them for slower months like now. I would be willing to submit an article from time to time, but can't commit to anything on a regular basis. Like many members, I've got a full time job, a growing family and numerous other commitments that take my time.

You may also look at getting writers from some of the different clubs or enthusiast groups. That way you can have a lot of diversity instead of a lot of stuff from say the Mustang crowd and the Camero crowd. I'm not trying to point anyone out, just using them as an example, because they are popular cars.

Basically some freelance writers can submit articles is what I'd suggest. Not sure what motortopia's vision is for the future regarding something like this. Just some ideas to add to the pot.
