It's so quiet on Motortopia. I look through all the groups and their forums and there are no active ones. It would be nice if there were official General Discussion and Off Topic forums to find other folks in, with a link to those forums on the top menu bar.

Yes, you can join multiple groups and the indicators will tell you when there's a new post in a forum, but the magnitude of clicking involved to find them all is overwhelming. It would just be nice to have some official forums with a link from the main menu above so folks could get there quickly.

Thanks for listening! ( reading )

We are currently discussing ways to better promote forums on Motortopia and get them used more. Keep the suggestions coming!

A lot of traditional online forums have a "control panel" of some sort, which sums up all the threads you are taking part in, and also highlights new replies. With just one click you can get caught up. Would something like this also help Motortopia? Would a "central control panel/what's new" page that sums up all the forums you have access to make it easier? I imagine this would be a link from your garage page that says something like "forums summary" or something to that effect.

We also tossed around the idea you just mentioned, about having a sort of "official forum" that any Motortopian can post to without joining a group. Have you gotten the feeling that forums are just too spread out maybe? Or is it just too many clicks to get caught up on everything?

Biggest problem is the inability to find one forum ( general discussion for example ) that's active.

Many of the groups have a general discussion and off topic forum. Maybe there's 20 posts posted in them per day, but maybe only one / two posts per forum. So you bounce around. Then there's the problem that other members may not be part of my group where a cool off topic or general discussion is going on and we need more feedback. There's really no way to solicit that feedback without spamming multiple groups -> forums with the same request to come chime in on a specific thread in a different group -> forum.

On another site I'm active on, there are crew ( groups ) forums as well as a primary General / Off Topic / Mods/DIY/Help / etc. forums. The crew forums tend to have more topics pertaining to their types of vehicles, while the general forums would have more topics like, "How do these rims look on this car" or "what car should I buy" or "Check out the pics from this carshow I attended".

I guess my suggestion is just to have a centralized place for members to find each other and have general conversations, and have a visible link to get to it. smile image Oh, and the Control Panel idea would be a nice perk as well, and would still be useful if centralized forums were introduced.

    Thanks!
