Hi all,
Just joined. Need a support group because of my husbands car disease. Just like the one that all of you have...hah hah.
Actually I have some questions about the 78 Trans Am that we have owned for about 6 years. He decided not to restore it, but to sell it so I am busy researching to see if it is indeed a bandit as we were told.
It is Black.400 eng. ( are the T tops Hurst Tops like we were told?) Has a CB radio.
Vin is 2W87Z8N141957 - I have been able to decode it, just have not been able to find out info on verifying if it is indeed a bandit. Cannot figure out how to post a photo here.

Your Vin number Verrifies that is is a 78 TA built at teh Norwood plant. To tell if it is a "Bandit" car you need to locate the Body tag - should be under the hood below the cowl on the drivers side. You are looking for a Y82 or Y84 designation. Y82 were the early special editions with the Hurst t-top the Y84 is the Fisher t-top roof car. Hope that helps. -
