How many Motortopia members take their cars to the track?
If you've every wanted to try a low cost, simple entry level type of motorsports, but aren't sure what type to get involved with, Speed Sport Life has a Racer Boy blog which gives the 411 on different motorsports, how much it costs, type of car wear, rules, time invested, adrenaline factor, etc. Here is a list of the different events, maybe the next one will the one you race your car in:

Up untill about 4 years ago Autocrossed the Z quite a bit, did not do too bad for being the oldest guy with the biggest car on the circuit...

I bring mine to the track every chance I get.Racing is only done on tracks. Anything done on the street is for your ego not for sport.

I run my Trans Am when i get the chance, I just like making people stare at gas stations lol, but i like to take it to 1/8th mile or 1/4th
And My modified is nothing but a race car, so yes ha, i do race it.Jeremy Little

I dragrace mostly at Maple Grove Its been a slow progress I first turned it into a show car then started racing it. I started at at 13.58 @ 105.
After a few years and a few thousands of dollars Im now running 10.58 @ 128 mphWrap your a$$ in fibergla$$ buy a VETTE..

Now that I'm down to just my Cobalt SS I don't do any competition, but when I had my Corvair(s), I'd run them in every club event I went to. Autocross, Road Rally, and the Econo Run were what I mainly did, with a best of second in class at the Corvair Society of America (CORSA) National Convention Autocross in Washington, DC in 1991 in a Factory Stock 1964 Monza sedan (See "Goldylocks" in my garage), and 3rd in class (Street Stock) at the 2005 CORSA National Convention in Lexington, KY, with my '66 Monza coupe (Ashley) in the Econo Run at 37.7 MPG. I think I'm proudest of the results my then 10 year daughter Becky and I achieved in the Road Rally at ther DC Convention. We finished in the top dozen or so in the Primary Class (Driver and Navigator only, no observers permitted) - it was Becky's first time as a Rally Navigator, and I screwed up the odometer check leg, so we were flying seat-of-the-pants for distances!
I also ran my '73 Chevelle Laguna Station Wagon ("Carlotta" in my garage) at Maple Grove Dragway once on a "Test and Tune" day, just to see what the car was capable of. The car wasn't pure stock, but it wasn't an all-out hot rod either. It had a 4-barrel 400 small block breathing through an open element air cleaner and it had headers and a true dual exhaust system. It turned a few mid- to low-14 second passes with a rank amatuer at the wheel... and two child safety seats strapped securely into the back seat, since it was our family car at the time!CORVAIR: When you care enough to drive the vairy best!

Yes, I drive my '69 Camaro in the Super Pro class in the NHRA Summit Points Series.
