   I'm tinkering w/carb . It's a early style SU, was this a kit? or some wierd option? Has trouble w/ accelerating, so fattened up,nknow it loads up at idle. Got air/fuel down to 12.5. Can ideas? or carbs that work better? thanks

   I drilled main jet out 15%, set float level & dyno, ran great 128 hp at tires,140# of torque.Started & ran great.

   If it is an SU carb, then it is something that was added as aftermarket.
   
   The stock turbo Corvairs used a Carter YH sidedraft carb.
