NOT GETTING THE POWER OF MY TRANS AM 1979
JUST GOT MY 2ND GENERATION 10TH ANNIVERSARY TRANS AM . IT HAS 30,000 MPH ONLY.
THE CAR AND ENGINE IS EXCELLENT CONDITION BUT AM NOT GETTING THE POWER
1.6L CAR CAN BEET ME .
ILL APPRECIATE IF SOMEONE CAN ADVICE ME
ITS 403 6.6L OLDS
THE RPM WILL NOT EVEN REACH 4500 RPM
HOPE SOMEONE WILL GIVE ME A SOLUTION -

Been a while since you posted this have you cured your problem? If not check the cat. converter it may be stopped up if its still on there. Another thing is the olds 403 wasn't very quick back when it was new but it was faster then most. -

Was it that bad !!!
It's v8
6.6L
And it's the 10th year anniv
Even the RPM dos not reach even 4500RPM
Wish I got the 455 engin
Anyone there can help me or advice me

79 403 olds T/A ran 15 flat in quarter on a good day in 79 which was good for stock back then. Check the easy stuff first timing , vacuum advance working?, are the back barrels opening on carb. Maybe have the distributor recurved we used to have to do this to make them run . -

2.41 gears don't help much either.
The 403 is a great motor with a little basic tweaking. -
