|May 16, 2009||3rd Annual SPC Stephen Downing II Memorial Car Show|
The SPC Stephen P. Downing II Memorial Fund is undergoing efforts to raise money for a memorial statue to be erected at the new Newby Veteran’s Memorial in Mooresville , IN, in honor of SPC Downing , a Mooresville native who was killed in action in Iraq on October 28, 2004. Our mission is to also award scholarships at Mooresville High School.
There will be a car show and auction at the O'Reilly Raceway Park on May 16, 2009 in conjunction with the Indiana Blue Star Salute. We will have entertainment by a DJ, WFMS, along with an appearance from the COLT’S Cheerleaders, Pacer Pacemates, Indiana Ice Chill Girls, Ice Mascot Big E-Foot, Colts Mascot Blue, Pacers Mascot Boomer & Bowser and the Indians Mascot Rowdy. More detailed information will be provided as it becomes available. The Memorial Fund is accepting monetary donations as well as items for give-a-ways and auction. All donations are tax deductible (receipts will be provided). For car show registration information please contact myself, LeAnn Chapman (contact information above) or Dean Emmons at 317-437-3007.
There will be tables set up for donations to be made to The Snowball Express , an organization that provides a holiday dream vacation for children of our country’s fallen military, T.A.P.S. , which is a grief camp for families of the fallen, as well as a table to drop off any items (used cell phones, calling cards, CD’s, DVD’s and MP3 players) to be sent to our military who are currently serving in the Middle East or write a Thank You note. For those of you that have asked, there is a trust fund set up for Steve Downing’s children, Taylor and Hunter Downing. Donations can be made at any Citizen’s Bank location.
We are asking that all individual or corporate contributions be mailed by April 30, 2009 to:
