Bandit Run 08 was running a Burnt Orange GTO on a 3 lane road. Both doing over 100mph. All of a sudden it went from 3 lanes down to 2. I slammed on the breakes and so did the GTO, Runners in front were being "good drivers" doing the speed limit. I ended up sharing the left hand lane with another car and the GTO was using the grass in the mediam to slow him down until there was room behind me to get in the lane.

Pucker factor was in full affect. biggrin image

jfw, was that you who lost the t-top? I remember driving along and all of a sudden I seen this flash go past the side of my TA and I could have reached out and grabbed it... Then I heard this thud and thought it hit the side of my TA... I was scared to look at my TA when we pulled over later for gas... I didn't realize that was you... I remember someone talking about running a CB cable through a t-top and forgot to latch it...

My Scary moment was bandit Run 2008 when We were going onlong and a semi was in front of me and I wanted to catch up to the pack... Well I was just along side the back tires of the trailer when on coming traffic showed up... Needless to say my 4-speed came in handy, but not until getting control after my rear wheels decided to torque down after spinning and just barely made it by the semi without hitting on-coming traffic head on... After that happened I now take my time to catch up if needed... It's not worth it... What was I thinking... duh image

im all for a good street race but when you doing something like that on a highway that you shouldnt you cant always expect the best results.what if he or you wouldve wipped out and hit another car that was "driving speed limit" and killed them?!! if your gonna do crap like that i wouldnt do it around any cars.

Knowing Greg and how subdued he is... I am positive it was not planned but simply passing a big rig. One thing we talk about on the Bandit Run is obeying all traffic laws and pay attention to the other guy. Do Not let a distraction cause you to do something stupid or loose focus or control. It is very easy to loose focus especially on a cruise when everyone is excited. Stay focused and save the racing for the tracks. We are suppose to do a couple of tracks again this year! hyper image

Any one else ... share your stories. duck image

I can't think of any scary stories except that I wasn't following you out of Birmingham when the t-top flew off.... I know if I had been in my "usual " position my 75 would have some scars from that little incident!

BR09: On the way to Branson from home. Very first fuel stop. Fill up, hit the key and nothing.......................................................but smoke from under the dash. confused image I looked under the dash and moved some wires around to see what was up. Didn't see anything wrong. Hit the key again and varoom. applause image We were off. Sweating every time I had to stop and start the car. Made it to Branson only to have the car dye third in line on the way to dinner (embarassing blush image ). That's when I found a jumper I put in had fallen and was shorting out on the clutch pedal. irked image Wrapped it with electrical tape and been doing fine ever since. bananawoot image

Not all that scary, but for that first moment seeing the smoke rise. biggrin image

Smoke makes me nervous too! I think every time I drive one of mine, do I have the fire extinquisher? The other day, I noticed I had put both in the same car so the other car didn't have one. eek image
