Here are the links to two videos concerning the actual filming in 1976. Part 2 contains actual "behind the scenes" photos. Actors, Trans Ams, etc. Enjoy!!

      Tyler,

GREAT job on the videos and images... Amaising how movies are made and how long it takes to find out about the behind the scenes information... Would love to be back in the 70's again... Everytime I drive my 77 SE it brings me back... Looking at all the old images I do recall wearing some of the same clothes when the movie came out and I was 17 years old... I actually had the same jeans that the kid got kneed in the mid section in the movie (the kid that spelled out the license plate BAN ONE) after Burt took off with Frog... GREAT Job!!

Alright everyone I need help with this. We all know the runor of a 1976 Trans Am being in the movie. We know from the interview that no 76 was ever seen on the set. I have been watching the movie on my comuter. The scene where they are at the Texas state line appears to look like 76 wheels on the car. Everything else looks the same, license plate, CB antanae, stripes, etc.... I have looked and stopped the video many times in several different spots at this scene and the wheels appear to be 76 rims in every segment. Is this an optical illusion? I cannot imagine this being true as there is no need in this scene to have a 76. No where in else in the movie does the wheels look like 76's. What are your thoughts?? scratchchin image

According to Don Schleiser (spl) , he was the stunt coordinator for all 3 movies, said they put a NASCAR small block chevy motor in the bridge jump car. Said the Poncho motor didn't rev fast enough. The got the motor at a local race teams shop. Saw the interview myself.

Those are 76 Honeycombs on the car. About the only difference between 77 and 76 is the front end sheet metal. From the back, can't tell the difference.

I interviewed another guy who was in the movie and answers the question:WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CARS?? Yes, they were crushed. We visited the sight where they were crushed and we found an old HOBBS semi trailer too. No, it wasn't the movie trailer.
